The Exotics and the godly power of a reborn
Kiderha - The Guardian, Dragons were once the protectors of the world, and one day soon will be again.
Ancient Dragons
The mythological dragons of history were catagorized by color - red dragons always spat fire and were often more violent or destructive in their methods, while green dragons were thought to always use poison and illusions in defense of those beneath them, and silver dragons used frost breath and protective magics.
Zarligantír's museum is filled with the bones of these ancient, hulking beings, while mutants transformed by their power littered the world due to experiments and carrion beasts. Since Kiderha was reborn, however, many draconic mutants have made their way to
Katarn to return their power or be remade.
Modern Dragons
The dragons of today are still young, barely a year old even for the first to hatch, and yet Kiderha's power courses through them. They have been magically aged in preparation for a great war to come, with the oldest three already becoming young dragons taller than the largest horses at the shoulder and over three times as long.
They have become catagorised by their keepers into two families, currently known as Surfers and Ruiners, or Kites and Claws respectively, separated based on their wing structure and shoulder bones.
Both families of dragons are born with an attunement to one element, such as fire or cold, and can breath out such energy innately, though unlike ancient dragons the element seems completely disconnected from the color of their scales and often has no bearing on their personalities. Most modern dragons also develop a secondary breath weapon as they age, though the exact process for this is unknown to mortals and there currently seems no easy way to tell what it will be in advance.
In truth, other than their wings, the population is so small currently that there is no easy way to categorise them; each dragon is an individual unto themselves.
Surfers
Known as "Kites" due to the way their wings extend out from a long spine/modified arm on their shoulder and attach all the way along their body on either side up until the tip of their tails, sometimes even wrapping around the tail to connect full as a single sail. Often they will have smaller spines extending either from structures in their scales or from their bones to add more support to their wings, either retracting them or folding them back when on the ground.
These elegant wings allow Surfer dragons to glide extremely effectively, and afford them greater maneuverability both in the air and under water. They tend to be much slimmer and faster than Ruiner dragons, and typically, but not always, use Lightning, Poison, and Cold breath weapons.
Ruiners
Known as "Claws" due to the fact that their wings are truly another set of functional limbs - secondary arms extending from a double shoulder joint with extremely long claws and skin between the fingers, like bats instead of birds. The skin of these wings connects to the body only up until the dragon's hips, if it does at all. Depending on the dragon this allows them the ability to use their wings like giant, simple, hands; clinging to walls, holding large objects, or attacking foes.
They are less dextrous flyers than Surfer dragons, but are typically much bulkier, and capable of far more power in their takeoffs and landings. They tend towards, but again are not locked to, Fire, Acid, and Thunder based breath weapons.
