Kiderha - The Guardian Character in Éda | World Anvil

Kiderha - The Guardian

Believed by many to have once been the most powerful of all Gods during her peak, Kiderha was created by The Primordial deities to protect their universe from the machinations of Fidain. She served her purpose well, and kept the world safe for aeons untold.   Her children, the dragons, fought the lesser battles against the monsters of Fidain on the surface and lower sky, while Kiderha fought The Breaker within the Aether. With Kiderha’s protection, The Balance was maintained, for The Breaker could never muster the strength to disrupt it while The Dragon fought on.   This ended with the Archon war, centuries ago. The elven gods and Archons worked together with Fidain to finally defeat The Guardian, and then worked to slaughter their children and wreak havoc on the world. In her final moments, Kiderha passed her remaining power on to Olsír, and handed her the charge of protecting the world. Olsír did just that, and empowered humanity enough to defeat the elves and their masters. In thanks, Olsír pleaded with Haroch to permit a final gift to The Dragon who had kept everything safe for so long.   Haroch allowed this honour for the defeated god; a unique act, for none before or since have successfully bargained with The Shadow. Olsír took the deity’s body and held it within the aether, turning the fallen guardian into a million stars spread in a ring around the world, where they could watch over it in their slumber for the rest of time.   Nowadays Kiderha has few worshipers, for who would worship a fallen god? The devout are rare and often powerless, but the fact remains that a select few can indeed claim divine magics granted by The Dragon. Against all odds, this implies that Kiderha is merely sleeping rather than dead, and her worshipers have spent many years trying to wake her up. A futile task? Perhaps. But should they succeed? The Republic may finally see dragons returned to the world, and the balance restored.

Divine Portfolio

Kiderha was the God of Dragons and Protection, keeping the world safe with her domains of Elemental Power and Might. But that was before the war. In death, most of her power was distributed to the other gods, primarily Olsír. All Kiderha would hold rulership over now are her dragons, a race brutally rendered extinct during the very same war that took Kiderha's life.

Divine Relationships & Shared Portfiolios

Celestial Protectors

Originally a group formed of Lútus, Talsia, and Kiderha - gods dedicated to slaying monsters and protecting mortals from threats too dangerous for them to handle alone. Lútus left his warrior's post after deeming The Balance safe enough, and Kiderha was slain during the Archonomachy, leaving Talsia alone to safeguard the world.   This did not last for long though, as Olsír stepped up into the role Kiderha had left behind; using magic in place of innate draconic power. Soon after she assumed her role she gave birth to The Champion, who would grow into The Dragon's true successor. The three Gods stand now as the new guardians of the world, hopefully for the rest of time.
