Ich'hi

Ich'hi are popular Iather mounts native to Ehlish. Due to their size and amphibious nature, Ich'hi are often used to transport people and goods between islands.     Ich'hi were first discovered and domesticated by the native people of Ehlish. When the Iather Empire took control of the islands, they recognized the usefulness of the Ich'hi and began incorporating them into their empire and military. Nowadays, Ich'hi are primarily used only for transport, but some are still trained for use in combat.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Ich'hi are quadrupedal. They have a small head with a pointed snot, a short neck, four legs with webbed and clawed feet, and a long, paddle like tail.     Ich'his' bodies are covered in fine, fish like scales. These scales come in a wide variety of blues, greens, greys, purples, yellows, and even white. They form complex patterns on the Ich'hi's body, which often resemble the appearance of sun reflecting off the water.

Genetics and Reproduction

Once two Ich'hi have mated, the female will build a nest in a moist place. In a few weeks, she will lay her eggs there before covering them and leaving. In 1-2 years, the eggs hatch and the baby Ich'hi make their way to the water.     When raised by Iather, Ich'hi eggs are placed in special conditions to optimize hatching.

Growth Rate & Stages

After |hatching, the Ich'hi spend the first 2 years of their lives growing and learning. At three years, their adult teeth come in and they are of mating age. An Ich'hi is considered an adult for 4,700 years. Ich'hi who live longer are considered to be elderly.

Ecology and Habitats

Ich'hi live on the coasts, wetlands, and rainforests of Ehlish. They can also survive in other wet and tropical or subtropical regions.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Ich'hi are omnivores. In the wild they eat fish, water plants, small reptiles, rodents, and birds. When kept as working animals, they are fed specially made feeds that contain fish meat and plant fibers.
