Fiohao

Fiohao is the processed form of the lichen Fio, which is native to the Dancing Iles. The lichen is ground up and mixed with boiling water to make a thick paste, which can be applied the wounds. Fio can also be combined with clay to treat wounds which have poison or venom in them.

Utility

Fiohao is used by applying the paste to a wound or infection. The paste then cleans the wound, as well as creating a protective barrier over it for several hours, and is believed to heal wounds faster than they normally would have. The clay based form of Fiohao is specifically used on venomous bites or wounds suspected to have poison in them, as it will leach out the toxins as well.

Manufacturing

Fiohao is made by harvesting Fio from the sides of trees or rocks. Then, the Fio is ground up into a fine power, which is how many Healers carry it. When it is needed, the Fio powder is mixed with either boiling water or soft clay to make a thick, green paste.
Access & Availability
Fio is commonly found growing in the forests and tundras of the Southern Dancing Iles. Until recently, the use of Fiohao was contained to the islands and the Northern Faerie Peninsula. Recently, the use of Fiohao has begun to spread to Northern Valdesa, as Fio can also grow well there. There has been much talk of implementing the useful medicine in non-magical healing techniques, as using it as a possible cure for Elven Root Rot.
Discovery
Fiohao is a traditional medicine of the people of the Dancing Iles. The earliest documented use dates back to before the First Faerian Civil War, at which point it was already a well known remedy. Recently, a group of non-magical healers from the Temple of Tekshla traveled to the Dancing Iles to study the healing practices there, including Fiohao. This research will inform the possibility of widespread usage in the global medical field.
