Bridge to the Star-fields

The Bridge to the Star-fields is the tallest mountain in Faerie, and sits on the border between the United Dusk Bloom Kingdoms and Glacia. The rare glacierstone rock that makes up the mountain gives it distinctive magical properties and a blue-silver colour that is not found anywhere else in the Sylvan mountains. These unique features have caused a great deal of mystery, speculation, and mythology to build up around the mountain. The Star-fields The mountain’s most common name, the Bridge to the Star Fields, reflects its mythological connection to the Star-fields. While the Star-fields are most commonly thought of as the domain of Heaven  and thus exclusive to the Pantheon of Heaven religion, this is far from the case.   In fact, “Star-field” or a similar name apply to dozens of mythological extra planar locations. While some of this is from the influence of the Order of Sky and the Faerie Empire in general, Star-fields is a solid catch-all term for mythological and theological locations based in the sky.   Since the mountain is so unusual, and the idea of a divine sky-world is so universal in the region, legends around the mountain typically put it as a divine ladder, portal, or bridge.

History

The Sylvan Mountains were created in a series of earthquakes roughly 15 million years prior to the Great Contamination. The first recorded references to the mountain as a holy site date back to about 1 million years after the Contamination, though earlier reports could have been lost in the damage done by stopping the Contamination.   The Bridge to the Star-fields appears many times throughout the mythology and theology of the surrounding regions. For many millennia, small kingdoms and tribes fought over the mountain for it’s martial and spiritual advantages. Once Glacia officially formed in the Early Dynasties period, they claimed the mountain as there’s and put an image on their flag.   Despite Glacia’s claim, many of the remaining Wild Mage Kingdoms in the Sylvan mountains still saw the mountain as there’s. This led to many more milenia of conflict over the site. Finally, during the Storm Dynasty of the Faerie Empire the United Dusk Bloom Kingdoms, a federation of all 247 remaining recognized wild mage tribes and Kingdoms formed.   Under the guidance of Artemis Heaven and Queen-general Athena, the Dusk Blooms and Glacia signed a peace treaty in order to face their mutual threat of conquest by the Faerie Empire. As part of the treaty, Glacia rescinded their claim to the Bridge to the Star-fields and removed it’s imagery from the Glacian flag.
“As no being of this world may own a soul besides their own, neither [can] they possess rights to the land of souls, [nor] the land of stars, and on this truth, no country or border can possess the access to such things…as is tied to Star Mount.”
— The treaty of the unified front, wherein Glacia and the Wild Fey put aside their differences to face the threat of the Empire
Since the treaty, the Bridge to the Star-fields has remained outside of all countries’ borders. It remains a powerful religious and cultural symbol for many beings.

I like the peculiar reference to this place dating back one mln years. :D This makes it super ancient and makes me wonder what kind of cultures inhabit that region. Technically in some parts of our world, this dates back to 3 mln years, but still, this place feels like it should be buried thick in history.   Do you plan to expand the history of this region, or is the treaty the most critical part of the current affairs?

Thanks for reading!! =)   I do plan on expanding on the Dusk Bloom Alliance and Glacia. The Faerie Empire is the largest country on the continent by a lot and also the main setting of the project that started this world so it's gotten a lot more love so far lol. If you want to see more of the distinct cultures there's lots of little hints towards them in my mega-article on Faerie, specifically under the Geography heading.
