Not all who see a dark shadow in the corner of the bar need fear it. Some, if not most, revel in the darkness, indulging in the depravity of the moment and not caring for the consequences of their own actions. And yet, the hush whispers become a rumor, dancing through the air before slithering into the heads of the commonfolk. The rumors of the serpent's golden gaze staring from the shadows. While most dismissed such rumors, people couldn't help but notice that those who spoke of it seemed to disappear in the coming week. Of course, Devros would not know of such rumors as folks grew quiet upon his approach. Though lucky for him, he didn't mind it too much. It was simply his job to find the filth that the guards were looking for before bringing them forward. Whether they spend the night in jail or end up on the block was not his concern, simply keen to line his pockets one day at a time before slipping back into the shadows...
