Ginger greas Material in Ædeos | World Anvil

Ginger greas

Appearance

As the name suggests the substance has a greasy consistency with a deep dark ginger color, at times similar to dried blood, but in the same time transparent.

General use

In very dilluted form ginger greas is used very often as an irritant, parasite repeller and flaying agent. The irritating property is typically used with a substance that penetrated into the skin and cannot be removed otherwise. By dissolving small amounts of ginger greas and applying onto the skin it peels off afer a few days. Smaller portions are used for bug repelling properties, be it ticks, flees, lice, etc. One must be careful though as to not add too much, as the results may be fatal. Finally the highest concentration, sometimes used in pristine form is used for flaying purposes. Especially in the forest depths and on the battlefield there come situations when taking off a part of skin, e.g. everything around a rotted or infected piece.

Foraging

As it is with all greasy things, the most common way to remove them is by using an ashen soap or similar emulsifying agent, e.g. egg yolk, butter, lard, etc. By doing so the wool returns to its original color but loses its moist and greasy touch. It becomes more fluffy but tad worse for spinning yarn. Nevertheless, the ginger greas is removed, purified and sold for a good price as not many people take the risk of tending to the ginger sheep.

Flaying! :O Really interesting substance - you definitely want to be careful how much you use!

I did not know you were that interested in flaying, Emy. XD But the substance will be used a couple of times throughout the story of two main characters, so there will be plenty of occasions to get a good scare and awe. :P
