Kingfeller

Valtappaja, or Kingfeller, is a simple sling that downed King Sevalt in a nearly impossible feat of strength and precision as he delivered a gloating monologue to a group of rebels avenging their lost land and loved ones. The item, as well as the launched stone, are completely mundane but have gained both fame and infamy throughout Svaluure due to their defining moment.

Summary

The story goes that King Sevalt had attempted to overtake Hiirammas in a power-hungry grab for more arable land for Tarrata. His forces displaced thousands of families into the wilds and killed those few who refused to leave. Bands of rebels that had already been fighting against their own lords allied with said rulers against KING, believing that his lust for power was much more of a threat than Hiirammas' comparatively minor taxation.   After a bloody slog through the keep to Sevalt's castle, they arrived at its well-defended inner walls only to meet soldiers laid shoulder-to-shoulder, three ranks thick. As the King taunted the rebels from his high balcony, one of the rebels picked up a stone from the ground and used his sling to launch it at Sevalt. Only intending it to be an act of insurrection, he had no idea that it would practically end the battle right then and there.   The rebel, who chose to remain nameless, claims to have felt the strength of ten men as he released the sling from his grasp. The stone flew well above the parapets, attracting the gaze of even the enemy as it embedded itself straight through the Sevalt's eye and into his head, killing him instantly.   The ensuing fight was nothing close to fair, as the rebels were spurred on by their recent victory in defeating Sevalt in such a humiliating manner. Sevalt's men were left powerless and directionless since he had relied upon the sheer numbers and status to sap any hope the rebels had left to fight against him.   The sling was passed around each hand during that night's merry celebrations, soon earning the name Kingfeller based on its action. Though all agreed that it was an ordinary leather sling, the object's importance to the rebels, as well as many people of Hiirammas and Tarrata, became an almost legendary level of notoriety.   Thirty-two years after the battle when Kingfeller earned its name, despite physically being little more than shreds of dried leather, it was stolen from its display on the balcony of Sevalt's converted keep. Fingers were pointed all around, with initial guesses at the thief involving those who served loyally under KING. Further investigation then turned in towards the rebels and their own descendants, since some had become jealous of the newfound admiration at the action of the unnamed rebel, not to mention the "wasted fame" that he brought about by never claiming it.   Regardless of the legal battles still stretching on to this day and the combing over of every possible involved party, the object still remains missing and it is thought that it may never reappear.
