Bio-tech

Bio-tech is useful in so many ways and yet it is to be feared. When Jared Clark first discovered he had contracted the magic contagion, he began experimenting with technology and magic together. He was exiled from the community because there were so many explosions in his vicinity while he was experimenting. When he returned ten years later he was different.

Discovery

Biotech was created by Dr. Jared Clark and his family. He spent five years experimenting in the Laboratory of Science in Edmonton. The explosion caused damage to the precious laboratory equipment and loss of life caused his exiled from the town and lab. Packing up everything he needed to continue his experiments. He headed into the mountains and towards Jasper National Park, where he set up his laboratory and continued his research. With his family there to assist him, he made the breakthrough of combining magic and technology in bio-engineering technology. This could be used for many different applications. From growing technological replacement body parts which combined the genetics of the donor and technology. These could be used to increase strength, alter eyesight into different lightwaves, allow for better oxygen absorption into the body, et cetera.
One of his children came out as transgender while he was in exile. This sped his research so that they would not need to suffer by going through the wrong puberty. With his breakthrough he could use the bio-tech to enhance the life of his son.

Utility

This bio-tech is used for regrowing lost limbs, major medical surgical procedures, and altering DNA.
With bio-tech all you need to do is place the device on the patient. The device then runs a full diagnostic of the patient and finds where there are issues. With a small tissue sample taken during the diagnostic the device can make the desired alterations required. While doing the physical diagnosis it also conducts a verbal examination. This is in order to complete all necessary repairs in one go.
During the verbal examination it measures pulse rate, breathing, and perspiration. This tells the device whether there is any anxiety in regards to the condition they are in according to baseline set up at the beginning of the exam.
With the device, one can change their gender without the need for invasive surgery. Once a procedure of this type is complete the individual is a fully functioning member of their chosen gender.

It was originally researched as a means to repair and regrow limbs. Jared had been confined to a wheelchair after falling off a cliff when he was rock climbing and had his legs crushed by a boulder and having them amputated. When his son came out to him he decided that it needed to be multi-purpose.

Manufacturing

To build a device takes knowledge of genetics, biology, chemistry, anatomy, engineering and magic. There is currently only one family which can craft this device.
Many want to have a copy of the device but Jared is very careful about who has access to this level of tech because he is aware that there are those who would use it for nefarious purposes. The only ones he has granted a bio-tech device to are the doctors whom have sworn the oath.
