Kingdom of Gurbaz

Gurbaz is a manderthal⁣ city that was founded in 4,479 B.B in the Tri-River⁣ region and has been a very dominant player in the region's politics for millenia. Gurbaz is a powerful city-state known for it's reputable navy that has the finest oarsmen, the strongest marines and sailors that never get sick at sea. As opposed to cities like Galan, Shuban and Labia that preferred to invest their efforts in becoming land powers, Gurbaz always took an affinity to the rivers and the sea. This is seen by their map of vassals. All the vassals that don't share their island with them are always within 20 kilometers of a waterway like a river or the sea. Gurbaz is known for turning the kingdom of the Yu-Baii, a strong naval power, into it's vassal. Like most manderthal armies (the Shayanaha army among them), the Gurbazi army is known to let out high pitched blood-curling screams that can be heard for over 3 kilometers to cause their enemies to quake in their clothes (there are accounts of entire units of men soiling themselves at the sounds of those screams). Beyond that, the Gurbazi are known for being merciless in their political games and endeavors due to their disregard for human life. The kingdom's sigil (let's ignore those of the different dynasties as there were 39 of them, not to mention that the kingdom sigil was slightly tweaked throughout time to look more up to date without changing the actual symbolism behind it) is as you see on the halbardier's shield in the cover image. The Axe represents the massive blows they deal their enemies. The crocodile, the most iconic in Gurbazi culture and symbolism, represents the affinity they have to the water as well as their strength and might both on land and in the water. The blue and red background represent how cold they can be and their dominance in the water as well as their ambition, intensity and lack of reluctance to spill blood. the gold color in the rim represents their status, pride and the bragging of their splendor as well as their trade connections (like Aurukshuk and Shayanaha).

Assets

Dominance of trade routes, advanced metallurgy, sailing and navigation, political sway, a large amount of vassals (during the Third Pig War⁣, the king of Gurbaz bragged to the king of Labia that he had 47 vassal kings under his sway). Gurbaz is also famed for it's swift and powerful navy, impressive naval might (Bashur, Ushar and the unified kingdom were usually the strongest competitiors).

Military

When talking about the Gurbazi Military you can't ignore the navy. During the 2nd century A.B, they used triremes which could reach 17 knots at full speed. This may have to do with their prestigious Manderthal oarsman who were 4 times stronger than the average human male who worked at the three rows of oars at full force before ramming an enemy ship and breaking it. These trireme warships remained a core part of the navy (along with the transports they used) between the 10th century B.B to the 5th century A.B. The Gurbazi infantry was well trained to fight aboard enemy ships and act as marines to board enemy ships or to be dropped off the ship on a beach near the target. The Gurbazi never used cavalry as they couldn't and had a small corps of chariots and war elephants. Gurbaz usually relied on it's vassals for infantry, cavalry and elephants while they used their navy and deployed a few infantry units with their vassal infantry armies to maintain a presence.
