Third Pig War
During a time of extreme tension between the Kingdom of Gurbaz and the kingdom of Shuban, a man from a town under the influence of a Shubanese vassal city-state killed a stray pig that was eating his crops. The pig came from a nearby town which was under the influence of a Gurbazi vassal. At the time, it was witnessed by some local patrolling troops who saw the affair and recognized the pig (it was well known in that town as it was huge and had unique markings and a very rude personality), which was known to like to scare little children. Word of this eventually reached the king of Gurbaz who was infuriated by the action and declared war on Shuban and it's vassals. The war came to an abrupt end because Berlintini I's Great War of Coalition started and the Gurbazi king who started the conflict died during the war and his more peaceful and open minded son lost interest in the war. Yu-Mai Ashawa was infuriated when she learned that her father (whom she loved and looked up to) was assassinated in front of her because of a war that started over a pig. She then developed the notion that Manderthals were bratty apes because of this until she met this new king who proved her wrong.
The Conflict
The Engagement
The war was cleverly conducted in such a way that the body count of two battling cities never exceeded the limit as written in the East Hu-Balai Defence Pact(document). This way a lot of cities lost a few thousand soldiers. Not a very big toll for large populous cities like Shuban which had around 620,000 people but it took a massive toll on the smaller vassals, some of which only had like 14,000 people.
Outcome
The body count was relatively high and it weakened the military forces of the East Hu-Balai Defense Pact(EHBDP) because a lot of cities got involved and lost a few thousand soldiers including some experienced veteran troops.
Aftermath
The Berini did pretty well in the first 7 years of Berlintini I's Great War of Coalition because the East Hu-Balai Defense Pact(EHBDP) was weakened, devided by the war and without a few handy commanders who would have really helped if they were still alive. Also, There was a massive manpower crises because a lot of small vassals couldn't function properly and this partially hurt the larger ones like Shuban, Labia and Gurbaz. This meant that a larger percentage of the East Hu-Balai Defense Pact's(EHBDP) troops were raw recruits who were only able to fight with the professional Berini army just because their equipment was far more advanced.
Historical Significance
Legacy
Don't start wars over small matters like stray pigs. Sadly, this lesson was forgotten and 40 years later there was a goat war between Nagidden and it's vassals and Labia and it's vassals. This one however, wasn't anywhere near as bad. Also, it showed that the defence pact needed to have some clauses and amendments added. Nobody cared.
