Gurbazi Trireme

The Gurbazi trireme is one of the most iconic warships used by Gurbaz. There were larger sea triremes and smaller river triremes. The sea triremes may be the larger of the two, but they were still rather small by contemporary warship standards and were more stable than it's river counterpart at sea. Both triremes were renowned for their speed and maneuverability. The river version was more maneuverable by being shorter and narrower than the sea trireme as needed in rivers which can be very windy and can get quite confined. The sea trireme was longer and wider and just as fast as it has more power driving it, but it couldn't accelerate as fast. Even though the sea trireme accelerated slower than the river trireme, it had a lot more momentum as it had a lot more mass to it. Triremes were often decked and sometimes even armored. They could also be stripped of deck and armor to lighten and speed them so that they could act as reconnaissance ships. These shallow drought triremes were also light enough to be beached and carried over land by the crew when needed.

Propulsion

Oars and sails. There are 60 oars on each side, 20 on each level. The oars are used by trained oarsmen who use the oars in shifts (the oarsmen themselves are armed with shortswords for self-defence).

Weapons & Armament

Marines, steel ram on the front and sometimes a ballista with 2 shifts of the 3 man crew. The off-shift oarsmen were occasionally used as guards or that they were fully equipped to act as marines.

Armor and defense

Reinforced frame that can withstand rammings and the massive shock that comes when the ship rams into another one. the ship's hull, deck and oarboxes protect the oarsmen and the crew from projectiles.
