Jadur

Flora & Fauna

Jadur is a dense and lush forest planet of sprawling jungles and humid to warm climates. The creatures found there are decidedly pre-historic.   Jadur has an abundance of active volcanoes seemingly responsible for a rich and fertile soil.

Indigenous Peoples

A race of humans (Jadurians) were found on Jadur. They are rugged and semi-primitive, but are highly accomplished stone workers. Their surface structures exhibit skills on par with Dwarves in terms of fit and form.   The written Jadurian language is clearly influenced by the Ancients consisting of word-pictures, but far less complex.

Colonization

In 1456 BCE, the Etolarian Empire began to colonize Jadur. The extent of the colonization is limited to less than a half-dozen cities - it is a challenging world of large and dangerous predators. Furthermore, left unchecked, the cleared jungle can reclaim lost ground in a matter of months.

Population Centers

The Jadurians tend to build temples and villages high up in the mountains above the jungle canopy. Dwelling above the jungle lends to fewer predators and the ability to build structures what won't be over run by forest growth.   As the Etolarian colonists gained experience, they to took to building cites in the mountains. Nearly every single original colony has been abandoned and overgrown and lost to the jungle. The Etolarian mountain colonies are some of the most breath-taking in the known world. The major Etolaring colonies are:
  • Karicoor - a long, narrow city stretched out across a ridge of mountains and ringed by plateaus and stepped farmland.
  • New Maitland - the last colony to give up the jungle in favor of the mountains.
  • Mistwalk - A popular destination for wealthy tourists. Its proximity to the coast ensures a cooling wind and lots of moisture in the form of clouds and mist which constantly glide through the city streets.
  • Morganstown - A "vertical" city built on the wayward side of mountain ridge. It offers a drier climate that its sisters, with relatively easy access to water in the form of falls from an alpine lake above it.
  • Govnerisle - the only colony that remains at low altitude. It is built on the larger island in an archipelago of volcanically formed islands. The relatively small size of the island and distance from the major landforms ensures a tamer selection of beasts (except for the ocean serpents).

Famous Myths and Legends

Some claim Jadur is home to a unique structure labeled the Perdita Templum or "The Lost Temple" by the Etolarians. It is so named because of the difficulties in finding it.   Many believe it to be of Anterian origin.
