Incorrect "No More Slots" error with self-assignable subscriber groups

Certain WA users are unable to join my self-assignable subscriber groups. They receive an error stating "There are no more slots!" but I'm only at 20 used out of 100. In addition, the person receiving the error is already part of other subscriber groups, so joining more wouldn't affect slots available anyways.   This first came up in January 2024. Mochi joined 4 hidden groups as part of a scavenger hunt, but got the "no more slots" error upon trying to join the fifth and final one. I manually added them to the group without issue. Others have been able to self-assign the same groups since, also without issue.   Now I'm using entirely new groups and Mochi is still having the same problem while others are not. It seems to be an issue with the account trying to join the groups rather than the World/groups themselves, but I can't verify.

Steps to Reproduce

  • While logged into my test account, ThirdNerd, I can join and leave self-assignable subscriber groups on my World without issue. Another anvilite has also been able to join and leave them without error.
  • When Mochi tries to join any by checking the box, they get the No More Slots error and are unable to join.
  • I can go to my subscriber list and manually add Mochi to any group without error.

Related Entity

This is related to self-assignable subscriber groups. I have several of them available on this page. I've tested with three people so far (including my own test account), and Mochi is the only person to have this problem.

Only just found this bug report - I cannot seem to join any subscriber group from any world, no matter the person's membership or the fact there's space in the subscriber group, I have to be added manually

I had the same issue recently for the first time. I had to ask to be added manually. There were also occasions that people reached out to me to add them in my own subscriber groups as they got the message of not available slots remaining.

Just bumping this, as I also had this problem now for the first time. Someone couldn't join one of my subscriber groups. It was person number 6.
