Young mothfae, entranced by the dancing flames.
Vesta Thistlewind is a Lepida, a feytouched moth-like people from a distant, gloomy land. This land, the Hallow, was once the kingdom of an archfey lord and his consort, but has since been brought to ruin by the vengeful old gods of the land. Exiled from their homeland of their own will, the moths became nomads, seeking atonement for their part in the fall of their mother goddess and their adoptive lord.
Vesta was the last Lepida born in the Hallow, though they do not remember anything of their home apart from the pervasive, searing light that brought its end. The light still haunts their dreams, and as the clan passed through the wasted, godless Land of Storms, the blazing, cleansing wildfires gave that haunting light a form. The allure of the flames consumed Vesta's thoughts and they became obsessed with the complex relationship between fire, magic, and life.
