Nihilism

They're empty, devoid of thought. They weren't like any of the normal spirits that roam around this plane. And they were obviously unwelcome.
 
After the thrall came these fiends. Initially harmless swirls of wispy energy floating in the sky, they landed down to the ground and took shape. After that, they attack the first creature they see and show no mercy. Somehow Epoka's defense systems didn't expect invasion of the paranormal, and it speaks in droves now that it happened.
 
I caught the attention of three. Before I could do anything, they attacked through tendrils, sharp arms, and needles - without showing any signs of holding back. I held on. I needed to, of course. When I had the window to make my move, I went absolutely feral. I was screaming, discharging electricity from my fingertips, allowed a large ear-splitting boom to spread out, and threw every zener card I had in my possession to try and get rid of them.
 
They proved to be strong, but I had risen up to the challenge. All but one of them barely lingered, while the other two had dissipated into dust. One of its arms stretched out into a long tendril-like appendage yet again, and immediately it whipped at me with it. The burning sting was immensely painful when it connected, and even up to now I can still feel that pain run across my face.
 
I had just enough zener cards to let out a barrage at this fool. But there are still those who weren't as fortunate couldn't overpower these creatures. These... mockeries of the dead. It disgusts me how these things even exist, and disgusts me how these things are here to terrorize the living. It's awful, really.
 
I prepare my pistol for another fight. If I'm about to go down, I'm taking the dead with me.
And I don't need the pity of a rock to tell me what to do.
