Spell Book

Dearest Diary...
 
Ok, I know I shouldn't have, but I finally mustered up the courage to read that book I found the other day. I had just finished sorting out a land dispute between two home owners and sat by my desk to relax for a few minutes before I had to get to my next duty. My desk drawer was open and I peered inside at the book.
 
I couldn't resist, so, I picked it up and looked at the cover. I just, stared at it, mesmerized by it's strange cover and stranger engravings. It looked to be written in a different language, but one I would find and learn non - the - less.
 
Slowly, I pulled open the front cover, my eyes darting to the bright red writing at the bottom of the page. It was written in either an extremely thick, runny ink or (More likely so) in blood. The words read, "Do Not Read!"
 
"Well," I thought to myself, "that's an obvious warning but I think we all know that I am going to read this book regardless." I never really cared much for cryptic warnings and hidden messages, I mean, just TELL ME what you mean straight up, don't be all secretive!
 
So, I started reading, but it was all in this strange language, non that I had read about in my studies. I followed the words closer, strangely, I started to understand the words and what they meant. I was, and still am, exceptionally confused and shocked.
 
As I started to understand, my cleaner walked in ... she recognized the book ... she started speaking the language in the book and her eyes began to glow ... she was the author of this journal!
 
I was lucky my guards were nearby and they managed to kill her before she finished casting the spell. They saved my life and this book near ended it...
