Session 7 - A Bard and Blackwater

by Ghorm

The Valentine Sheriff handed me a scrolled up letter from Vito Treacher thanking us for the job we had done. They've tried to contain our notoriety to just Saint Denis, our reward is ready but has advised us to not go back just yet.

We travel onwards towards Blackwater, and we set up camp. Carro and Elrbrick try to bring out Carro's form of stars. The crystal Carro has is essentially an enabler/amplifying which helps Carro bring out the form. Said we can call him Velious. We discover this is either Carro's last name or first name.

The next morning we follow the road and come upon Bard's Crossing, a bridge to cross the water but the bridge has been destroyed. Sitting atop the rubble, a person is sitting there with an ethereal guitar playing a tune. The person goes by the name Bartholomew the Bard. He asked us to retrieve his lute which was "stolen" by the people in Rhodes, but is being held at Flatneck Station. Carro said that he seems very fishy with his story.
Carro mentioned he could just cast Water Walk on us the next day if we rested.
We go to Flatneck Station to try find out what happened and Bartholomew is just a con man, causing uproar in Rhodes so they stole his lute. The guard at the station won't hand it over and won't allow us to stay the night. Bale said the Lute is at the back of the warehouse.

Bale causes a distraction on the other side of the warehouse while I send my echo in, swap places with it and grab the loot and swap back and sprint back to the horses.

The next day we go back to Bard's Crossing and debate giving Bartholomew his lute back which has a strong magical aura to it. We mote 3-2 to keeping the lute and he manages to get it from Bale magically and thankfully still fixes the bridge with the lute. We cross the bridge and further down we come across another bridge but much shorted. As we cross it gets extremely cold and the river starts to freeze, but it's spring. Two water elementals come out of the river on either side and pincer us.

We defeat the water elementals and make our way back to Blackwater, where a man called Arthur Kimber approaches us and says he was expecting us. Said he'll give us the location of the legendary thief we're looking for, but only if we do something for him first. Wants us to do some debt collecting and collect gold from the following people:
Kybern, operates the morgue.
Bungow, a Halfling who should be in the tavern.
Scytheus, a Dragonborn, part of a group of the church.

Kybern asked for some extra time to pay, and in return will give us a Bag of Holding. I counter saying if he agrees to paying 50% more then we might be able to convince Arthur, but instead he gives us the money. I then pay 250 gold for the Bag of Holding.

Scytheus inside the church shows interest in Bale and shows him a Dragon fang dagger, a fang from Ciraxis an ancient frost dragon that was killed.

Bungow handed over the money without any issue.

Arthur then told us about Franky Four Fingers as the thief we want to speak to in regards to the gems.

We go to where Franky Four Fingers' house/shop is. Myself and Bale go to the back of the house to stop him from potentially escaping out the back door while the rest go to the front. While waiting, we hear a shout from our friends and rush to the front where the front door is closed and no sign of our allies.
