A Menace by Any Other Name

by Helm Oakthought

We decided to seek out the wisdom of an arcane master to help us understand what is happening. Iymrith, apparently, is an ancient Blue dragon; the same one we were attacked by at the Eye of the Allfather. She has created spells of her own, mostly harnessing the "weave" of magic to burn out the minds of her victims. OH! But the sister of the princess! Both names are the same and the Giantess had a strange horn on her head. The giant and the dragon must be the same person! My companions and I begin to collect anything we can to steel ourselves against a fight opposing a blue dragon throughout Waterdeep.

This is the first time in my life that I have ever WANTED to frequent libraries; i've never spent so many hours reading books and scrolls before in my life. Pouring through text to find out information would have been such a foreign concept for me without the use of this headband of intellect. Anyway back to it, Iymrith is known as the Doom of the Desert. She covets her hoard above all else, also extremely proud and egotistical. Also Iymrith can stop spells that are cast around her while also harming the caster of said spell. Furthermore, she has found a way to cast more spells in the same time as most casters. Lastly she can tear open the weave to unleash raw arcane magic at her enemies to disintegrate her foes.

Blowing into the conch we are whisked away to lord Heckaton's Court. Rushing into the throne-room the King of Storm Giants greets us. The giantess Iymrith is there as well, and tries to thwart our ability to warn the king. After some firey debating we corner Iymrith in her words and Lord Hecketon catches wise to this imposter in his court. Iymrith quickly rushes to grab a scepter from the kings neck but Ines miraculously counterspells Iymrith as she tried to teleport away. Recognizing her situation she morphs into her true form. A massive blue dragon.

For Jean-Guy. I charge the dragon to defend the king.

Sensing that she has to resort to a backup plan, Iymrith retreats from combat through a dimension door. We ransack her room to find nothing, she's escaped but we know where she would be going. Aurnoch dessert. The storm giants rally and beseech us to take the fight to the ancient blue dragon.
