— sessions fifteen through nineteen.

by Sister Evelyn Albertine

After taking care of the murderer, we decided to stay in town a bit longer and deposited the icy remains in the town jail, where Eliodiel and Verrick stayed behind with the body. With Honey the elf in tow, Myalee, Rhodri, and I went to collect the Speaker from the Blue Clam and went to the Town Hall to speak with him. We learned there was a problem at the mines, and Honey's party was asked to take care of it, but they were not interested.

We encountered LARGE rats and kobolds in the cave, trying to thwart us from venturing deeper into the caves.

Eventually, we stumbled upon a bucket lift, of which Myalee was the first to go down, and I decided to bring up the rear. In doing so, I was attacked by a Duregar, who had been invisible, and trusting my new companions, I threw myself into the hole, and Rhodri's magic softened my descent.

In the cave's depths, we found more rats and kobolds, which were rather pleasant to talk with. Their leader, Trex, who has remarkable intelligence and is well-spoken, said they wanted work and to help out, so we relayed the message to the Speaker, who agreed to a deal between them.

Before leaving the area, we revisited the Moon Elf tomb, which the white moose guarded.

Here, we discovered this is where the rogue druid must be staying, the one who granted intelligence to the moose and sent it on its rampage through the area. Within the tomb was also a scrying mirror, where we all asked questions about it. We learned that my suspicions about Skath were true, that he is Gavrin in disguise, and that Prudence is in Targos. Rhodri asked about his father, and we scried on the man who was after Eliodiel.

With little time left, we returned to Bryn Shander with little time left before Verrick's trial, where we brought forth our evidence that he was innocent in the form of the frozen man, and the trial continued. I waited to be brought to the witness stand, given my background with the prosecutor for the town, Rennor, but I was never asked to take the stand despite feeling I could have provided helpful information.

It seemed that the Gods were on Verrick's side as he walked away a free man, but when we walked out of the doors to the town hall, they were no longer with us as Eliodiel was stabbed by one of her shades and turned to ice. As she is our friend and we wish nothing to happen to her, we thought it would be best for her to stay at Myalee's home, but that was a horrible idea as she somehow came back to life and murdered Myalee's beloved butler. As we did not want anything else to happen, we decided the best place for Eliodiel's frozen body would be the Town Hall basement.

Despite the dourness of the trial and death lingering around us, I cannot help but rejoice in the tiny bit of happiness that has befallen me and the life I have shaped with Grigor. Upon returning to the Church of Helm that evening, with a pained, worried expression upon his brow, he had explained that he had made me a suit of armor. This came as a shock as I cannot remember the last time he worked on the forge, and it seemed that Rafil, still looking like me, ran off with it atop a unicorn. There was a spark of anger and jealousy within me that someone would run off with something made for me, but I pushed those feelings aside, and they completely vanished as Grigor knelt before me and asked me to marry him!!

Of which I immediately said yes.

There is so much I have to do!

I pushed the date out three months ( I feel like I should have pushed it out further ) as I wish for my family to attend, and I know my mother would want me to wear a dress of her making, so she will need time for that along with bringing everyone here from the Western Heartlands. I should also write to the Church, letting them know, and perhaps Sister Agatha will get leave to attend and perhaps officiate.

A man came from Easthaven, needing supplies and help for a fire that happened there. Myalee and I directed him to Aliq and made our way to the town. Fear and anxiety building within me as I hope I can help in some way. Along the way, we found a peace treaty request from some local goblins, and before we got too far, feeling this was important information, we went back to Bryn Shander to give it to Speaker Shane.

When we finally made it to Easthaven, Dazan was being burned at the stake. An altercation erupted between the wizard and Avarice inside the Wet Trout. I came to the understanding that Nymestra did not survive. Knowing some survivors needed my attention, I pushed down the pain inside me and helped where I could.

We traveled North with a disguised Honey, where we learned that a lamp had been stolen from the tavern in Caer Konig.

Remembering that Freya wished to speak with me if I were ever in Caer Konig, I advised the party to talk to her and her father before venturing further. With some persuasion on our part, we got Freya to come along with us. The sleigh her father drives was handy as we crossed the snowy wastes to the Spire. We encountered a battle between mages unlike anything I had ever seen. Not wanting to interfere or give knowledge of our arrival, we entered the Spire through the back door, and lucky we did so, we were able to catch Honey as she fell through a crevasse in the ground. Rhodri could catch her with magic, and I helped heal the elf.
