Up until this point in my life I have never stopped to question my own motivations, maybe I do it for survival, maybe I do it to protect the ones I care about, but we took a risk here today. One I don't regret, but one that will be etched in the history of Coriolis, as one of the most horrific events to have transpired...
Before everything went to jahanam; my time exploring Coriolis was a nice change in pace, it was my first time there just as a tourist. I went around with Yacub to help him find some hacking tools, even treated myself to some static pulse implants, I realized I needed to protect myself against creatures like that dark bound on Surha, and possibly the Djinn if he ever decides to get out of our heads.
While I was off doing that and finding ship supplies with Yacub, Amira was trying to console Wahib about his bar, I came in during this, and I tried to console him. I ended up slapping him to get him to his senses, he didn't take that kindly, and I was told to get off the ship. I offered to give him the mining ship from Xini to pay him off for the costs, as it turns out that is what it would take to build a new bar. I knew I rubbed off on Amira as she only permitted this if we could be co-owners of the new bar.As a side note Amira also decided to take one of Wahib's daughter's hostage, and raise it as her own, Izaldin was excited, the poor sop wants to be a father. Aye what a screwed up family this crew is.
where was I originally.... ah yes the doom and gloom. After a bit of shopping we took that job with the mystery crates.
The crates, we were told they were unguarded for months, it just so happens today was the pickup day. We were able to trick the guards into thinking we were newly hired thugs, Hassan took over watch while I watched Izaldin's back. He did the talking I did the thug-ing we convinced them we were new recruits sent in for transport. From what I could tell at the time these were Wark thugs, under the Rafa family. Lucky for us Amira knew their secret handshake, and they believed us.
We loaded the crates onto the ship, blew up the truck and killed some Wark thugs to make it look like we died in the fire.
We got the crates and we thought we would be rich, and we would have been right. Curious we opened the crates... we found hundreds of relics and artifacts, all priceless... This was not good, the first time we found a single relic. The Draconites showed themselves and we created a near horizon wide incident which did lead to the battle at Kua. We had crates full of this stuff. Rich beyond our wildest imaginations? Yeah right deader than dead with this stuff. No one on the crew looked happy to see this; Wahib himself was horrified, with all his connections he would never be able to sell this load.
Then it happened, the Rafa family in full force, they emptied out the hanger and it was just us and them. Our captain decided to call for a parley, even though we had our ship they had a massive force collected.
The captain went alone, this was the first time I admired this man. He tried talking this out, but there was resistance, he offered our services, they just wanted blood, they called me out. Hassan held me back from the shadows and passed me one of his blast grenades and he rolled a grenade launcher towards me. We looked at each other with a dark smile, he made his judgement and his Icon made it's judgement. I rubbed the new Fox talisman given to me by Amira, the Fox, out of all the faces of my Icon, this was the one most familiar to me, the cunning destroyer of systems, it was time to break a cog in the syndicate's system. Before anyone could react Hassan and I fired 2 grenades into the clustered mass before us, it was as if time slowed down mine landed first the explosion was massive engulfing all of them, dozens were instantly maimed or killed, some who got out with a few scratches were in for a second explosion.
They few survivors were dazed and shocked only hours maybe minutes from death. I looked at Izaldin, as I thought he looked lifeless, he took a breath, he was in critical condition but he barely pulled through. I grabbed him to rush to the ship's medbay, as I did that I found the Rafa Family's ring crest. I put it on to disrespect their memory.
We realized we needed to split this loot, while I took some vortex grenades from the pile of hundreds, besides me no one else dared touch the relics. We still need to see who we can give these to, when the Rafa family came in they locked down the station. Now killing off a whole syndicate family this is a problem, we currently have some quiet time while the station is locked down, but it's only a matter of time before it's reported the Rafa family is gone, and I am sure they left evidence it was over relics, to make it worse the Market Plaza is up for grabs for other syndicate families. Nothing good will come of this, but I am starting to like this chaos.
