I, Captain Antoinette Mokyza ‘Gold’ Cadieux, of names branded, chosen and freely given, have laboured long in lands far-flung and wild. I would hope that I have not incurred more injustice than was done to me, yet have returned what I have received. My lot has not always been easy, yet there has been peace and kindness in my time. I have had friends and lost them. I have had enemies and put them to what ends I have seen fit in my limited wisdom. I have been both cursed and blessed. The spinning coin of my life has yet to fall on either side.
