Ye Taming of ye Barbarous and Wicked Shli-Lutsh — authored by Pierre Trey’arc, Colonial Underscholar

by Captain Antoinette Mokyza Cadieux

Far to the east of mighty Praxa was the ancestral homelands of the dragonborn and, prior to the rise of our eternal and wondrous Vitrean Empire, both the Khorosh’lyd and Shli-Lutsh clans dwelt. In what passed for culture amongst their kind they grew skilled in the jeweller’s crafts, almost in approaching the Dwarves. Living and working within their mines, their otherwise squalid dwellings were lit by the iridescent light of magical crystal formations. Whilst divided in almost every way they hold a common sense of honour. Incessant infighting ensures that they might never rise above their station. They hold dear the tools of battle and their warriors are held in high esteem.
Inevitably, the unending march of imperial progress reached the dragonborn, coming first to the Shli-Lutsh. Perceiving that the savages would not be content to trade peaceably, our glorious Emperor laid waste to their hovels. T’was at this moment that news spread of the value of dragonborn eggs. Those of means found that they made for rich delicacies and the shells could be crushed to make deep-hued dyes. Artisans swear by the cleansing and adhesive properties of the egg whites and some even claim miraculous healing properties of the yolk.
Those few cowardly dragonborn who fled the Emperor’s justice banded together, mounting a feeble revolt that was swiftly crushed. It is rumoured that some Shli-Lutsh rebels still evade the imperial grasp, yet knowing the veracity of our legions, if this is true it shall not remain so for long.
The dragonborn children that were spared and adopted have been rehabilitated, yet kept at arm’s length so to spare the average imperial citizen from falling victim to their natural savagery. In the fold of the Emperor’s mercy the dragonborn’s natural might and resistances are put to task on the frontlines paving the way for expansion.
