Some preparation for the next session, part to give myself an idea of what Ludwig could report - in letter form- to his brother as well as something to write his character more.

To Commander Tharian Caesin,
First of all, I haven't killed the druid. I know that I've been asked to bring her head and perhaps you're still convinced that the druids have something to do with what has happened. But, I don't think that would've gotten us any closer to the truth. Instead, I've come to tell you about the things that I have uncovered since you sent me out, and you can judge this by your own standards.
The deers hadn't been ordinary, upon touching them they supplied visions. Those of angelic figures and dragons, as well as cities. The cities that our folk used to and still march in. Maybe it is a warning about what is going to happen, how things begin or even how they will end.
It hasn't stayed with just visions. What I can only call magic has since been observed around people, but also around items. Items that respond to names and bloodlines. Creatures twisted by plant-growths from inside out. A forge assistant that has been kept awake for all this time by an artefact. My companions, each have seen their own share of this blue glow. It's out there. In terms of plants around us, the ruins, the water.
About the druid, I hadn't completely abandoned the search for them. thought I did, but she said she wasn’t the one. Either I was mistaken, or she’s hiding something. But I’ve stopped thinking she’s the cause. The forest is... changing. Growing differently. Some paths are blocked, others are new. Even the old Oathwood tree, which had long thought to be old wives tales. It challenged my dear companion, Thorgrott, and reforged his weapon.
We found records about the Ivory Order in the ruins . Ledgers, soulbound pages, magic vaults. Some of it mentioned our family, or at least people tied to our blood. A few names stood out, and I think our people were more involved with old magic than they like to admit. One tree (a corpse flower now, full of bones) pointed to children being fed by an elephant woman called Jentay who became a tree. Akin to Oriria of the herd.
I still don’t know where magic came back from, but I know it never fully left. It was hiding. Waiting.
The blue deer might have been early warning signs of magic making a fully return.
I know you’ll say this reeks of betrayal again, but I’ve chosen the right path by not killing for the sake of it. There’s more to learn out here than what’s at the end of your blade.
Tell Sha’vren that I hope she's safe.
