Mornings start when the first light breaks. It takes a moment for Ludwig to get up, revelling in the warmth of the plaid he had wrapped himself in. One that had been repaired countless of times and improved as seasons came by. He can hear his siblings, the reciting of first prayers, as well as other villagers getting ready for their chores and finally gives in, getting up. He fetches water from the well, to give himself a quick rinse as well as water for the rest of the day. The livestock is fed, people are checked on, household tasks are assisted with.
The aroma of a warm breakfast fills his nostrils as he sits down at the large table where an elderly Dragonborn tells about how the sword above the hearth was used by soldiers to slay those who wouldn't obey the law. It was taken with a grain of salt, and over a bowl of porridge that was richly topped by berries.
Today's chore is tilling some soil, making sure it is ready for the next group so they can plant the seeds. A local mystic traded their group some seeds who, rest assured, would yield many crops. Next to Ludwig, someone sings while an older Dragonborn teaches a half-dragonborn half-tabaxi the ways of the land. One day they'll have to maintain the soil. The land provides, and the land takes.
Lunch is barley rice with beans and leaves. Ludwig rests under a tree nearby the field, in the shade. He doesn't strike much of a conversation, rather listens to the bickering of others assigned to the fields that day. A younger lad takes a nap next to him. There's safety in groups.
Ludwig was in luck. The tilling was done earlier than expected, the sun was still high enough to fetch firewood with some others. They have to respect the local wildlife, but don't go further into the woods without weaponry. You never know what might lurk from the bushes. They didn't run into anyone this time, a recent memory of a boar still sits with him throughout his washing with the well water.
As the sun started to loom over the wall, everyone had their share in getting the evening meal ready. While someone worked on the vegetables, another prepared the meat, and another worked on ensuring the grain was ready on time. Together with family and close friends they ate.
Using a candle, he led himself back to his quarters. It had once served a storage room and had become his when he turned into an adult. It was small, but enough to fit a chest, some hanging spaces for clothes and a bed. He spends some time mending his shirt before his evening prayer. He thanked the sun and nature for keeping them warm, safe and fed.
Restless bones dream of a falling red sky.
