Tales of Summerdawn

by Adunesi Temple Prophet Prospérine Giselle Raufort (Auvrahael)

1st of Summerdawn, 259 AFC -
This is probably going to be the longest entry yet. I am still unsure how to begin this, I am unsure how much time has passed (though I have been assured it is still the 1st of Summerdawn on the night I write this), so this may get confusing...

Argen and I woke up before the crack of dawn, and we were ready and, on the road, very quickly, as we had planned out the previous couple of nights. We planned for a fight, and we were prepared should it have come to that. Unfortunately, we had no idea what was waiting for us... As we approached Annerian Alley, we were confronted by a group of bandits, perhaps highwaymen? They stepped up to us and asked us what our intentions are, and Argen ended up taking the lead. He convinced them that we were here to buy slaves, which confused me, because I don't think he thought of the repercussions of that statement. Because of that, and I assume his Dragonborn heritage, the bandits let us past and continued on their way. One of them kept eyeing me, as if he had an idea as to who I am, but because Argen forced us into 'buying' slaves, I couldn't question him.

We ended up sitting around a lounge area above a stairway in the Alley itself, guarded by varying Goblinoids and Orc's, as well as a few Lizardfolk. We were instructed to wait for our turn to go and inspect the slaves so we could buy, and we were questioned by a lot of different people as we waited. The various conversations allowed us to gain intel on the operation in Annerian Alley, and we realized someone by the name of The Master was working with these bandits, Orc's and other creatures - and they had deals with these people to bring them corpses and slaves.

Realizing we were in way over our heads, and that we were here for one person, which was at the time on their way out of Annerian Alley, we knew we had to get away from the situation at hand so we could figure out where The Wolves of Argos went.

We couldn't manage to find a way to leave without causing further conflict, and this led to a scuffle between the Lizardfolk and the bandits that may or may not have been caused by Argen and I. In the commotion, we managed to convince the bandits we were helping them which led to us being escorted towards the area The Master was said to reside. By this point, both Argen and I were caught up in this whether we liked it or not, and as we entered 'The Masters' dungeon, we noticed he had many prisoners trapped for whatever nefarious purpose he needed them for.

It was at this point that we realized that we had to do something, because we couldn't let all of these people remain trapped, even if this wasn't supposed to be our fight. As we confronted this so-called master, we realized he was a magic user. I have never felt so much necrotic, and demonic energy as I did in that cavern. After our fight with him, he dove into a pool of water below him. As he did, an army of undead began to rise up from the pool and attack us.

We were overwhelmed and barely managed to escape - I don't think we would have actually gotten away if I didn't manage to pass of my component pouch for spells to a prisoner that claimed they knew magic. I was tapped and couldn't cast much anyways, not like it would have mattered, since I don't really know how to integrate components into my spells personally. The prisoner, Jebalo, promptly teleported us to a safe haven as if it was nothing, all with those ingredients.

We found ourselves lost inside a seemingly endless library, belonging to the Arcane University of Leahdos. Apparently, this specific library is found in a demi-plane of existence, created by mages for mages. Interesting! I still cannot comprehend just what we escaped from back in Annerian Alley though, and I feel ever so guilty about the remainder of the prisoner's we were forced to leave behind. I know we had no choice, and we surely would have perished should we have stayed, but still...

Jebalo explained to us that time didn't flow as we normally think of it in the plane of the library, and Argen and I took the opotunity to try and learn something from the library, or maybe gain some more knowledge about what they just encountered, as well as their goals prior, like the Wolves of Argos. As we explored, I was confronted by what I can only imagine to be a librarian of sorts, that told me of a time that one of my ancestors came to this very plane. They came searching for knowledge about a plane of Hell. I will have to delve deeper into this when I have the chance.

Argen and I regrouped, and realized that the magical incantations they witnessed in Annerian Alley were spells about summoning undead. The pool back in the Alley must be full of bodies, and the magic won't stop until all of the bodies are revived in an undeath state. We were told that this must not happen, and that is has to be stopped.

After a small existential crisis, Argen and I figured out a plan with the help of Jebalo. We planned on using the teleport circle available and attempting to port to Deepwater Bay, where we could alert someone about the potential threat nearby. Unfortunately, that didn't work because the leader of Deepwater Bay didn't seem to care in the slightest, threatening to kill everyone anyways. Feeling defeated and not knowing what to do, Prosperine led Argen back to the teleporter and concentrated on making it to Jebalo's personal tower.

We were back to square one, without any help, and still clueless as to how to stop the undead. Thankfully, Jebalo helped us again, and offered us a place to sleep for the night - which we graciously accepted (also the reason why I am able to write this all out tonight). Hopefully we will be able to get to know Jebalo more in the future, he has been a great boon to us.

He told us about Lau, and how we might beseech him for help in our travels... Maybe he can help us with this undead army?
