We're here at the hall, but I'm not quite sure where I'm headed yet. It's mostly empty here, but this is definitely the place, right? I woulda thought a bunch of folks would answer the call.
Folks do start comin' in after a while, and a sign is put up. A lady with green skin, looks sorta like a plant, and a wizardy-lookin' fella with a cat - ugly, hairless thing - why in the Hells would you take a hairless cat up north? He looks at it like they're...familiar. There's a bird-person, too, short little thing, kinda hops around, always lookin' uncormfortable. A fox of all things, like, a honest-to-goodness fox, curled right up to me! Am...am I a wizard?
I pet the fox. It was a test, and of course, I failed miserably. Then I started hearin' voices! Maybe it was a poisonous fox? The green lady tried a potion, but I'm still hearin' voices! Maybe the fox is the wizard.
A fancy elf sent us over to the dinner room, and left us there to introduce ourselves. the wizardy one is Malachi, then there's Cammelia - she's the green one, and Minky is the birdfolk. Now, I'm gonna have to get a name for my new fox friend, but I'll give it a few days, to make sure it's a good one.
One eternity later, the elf man shows up to meet us all more official-like - Elarien Velo-something of some House Ravilier or somethin' - part of the uh...representatives of the High Council. Why're elf names so long, anyway? There ain't so many that they need so much name. He asks after us, what brought us here - they offer some wild gold - five thousand when we finish up a task, to transport a gift to the Hraegard clans. Hells, no way to turn down that kind of gold when I'm livin' on the scraps I can collect on odd jobs. all in all, sounds like a fair deal.
We did a thorough introduction, and we've got a couple magic users even. Maybe this job won't be so dangerous after all. even if it's gonna be a long walk.
We get our start-up money, and the fox floats a peice of silver through the air and eats it! The fox IS a wizard. He takes off as soon as the door's open, and we grab some foot to-go-like, and make our way out, catch up with Ke-Iko - that's the fox's name - outside The Dapper Jackalope. Drop off our nonessentials, and split up to gather the last of our supplies for the trip.
Tomorrow, we'll be heading out.
