Conversation with my Reach. 2021/05/06

Game notes 2021/05/06

Lord Darkmantle asked us to retrieve the reach from the castle nearby.

If he didn't do it himself, I expect there will be opposition.

Sala and I headed out, but Jim and Fynbar didn't follow.
Fynbar kept trying to get Jim to leave, and seemed really disturbed.

On the way, we were attacked by werewolves.

I fired a blast at one that was charging us, and hit it.

Then Sala cut the largest of them down in a single blow.

They backed off, back into the mists. We continued on our way.

We reached the end of the splinter. I almost didn't notice, but we stopped just in time.

While we thought about what to do next, Jim and Fynbar arrived.

I told Jim about the edge, and he said that the family they encountered along the way mentioned that.

I asked if they said anything about the castle, and he told me it had been splintered.

I suggested that Sala use the his reach to get us to the castle. It worked, but felt wrong.

The castle was overrun, and in ruins. Massive pillars, and crumpled walls surrounded us.

We started searching the castle for the Reach.
Sala asked if I could just pull it to myself, but I told him it wouldn't like it.

One of the columns, was a golem, and tried to stomp us.

I got out of the way, then it swung a sword at Jim.

It missed, but he must have been snagged by the sword, and was pulled up onto the Golems back.

It was so dark, I couldn't actually see it's head.

Fynbar was verbally directing Jim to find the power source, or other weakness.

Sala gave it a hard blow to the leg, but it's armor took a lot of the impact.

I tried blasting it with energy, but that too seemed to do little.

Jim spotted something, but must have nearly fallen off when the Golem attacked again.

He said he was OK, but sounded like he could use some help.

I tried to jump up to help him, but nearly fell off myself.

Sala must have injured it's leg, because if faltered, and we could see the ground again.

Jim tried to climb over me to get to the weak spot he found.
He failed to get purchase, and almost knocked me off, but I was able to reach the opening.

Inside, I found a red stone inside the golem. It sang to me like the stone we found at the Hive in the Princedom, so I jumped down into the golem for it.
I took hold of the gem, and felt it's energies flow into me.

The golem fell to the ground with a massive thud, but I didn't even feel it.

I feel a connection to the golems around me. I think I could power one of them if I wanted to...

The armor plates on this thing are stronger than anything I had ever seen.

Sala and I pulled some of the armor off the legs, and made some shields that while bulky, should provide substantial protection.

We searched the Castle, and found some Pael touched objects, but Fynbar doesn't know what they were for.
Fynbar took them both, a Vial of strange liquid, and a washed out ceramic plate.

We found the crystal staff.

Sala gave his reach to Jim to hold while he carried the larger heaver one, but as soon as Jim touched it, he vanished.

Fynbar told us he was concerned that Lord Darkmantle was responsible.

Sala was able to use the reach to get us back to the manor.

Jim was there, and Darkmantle wanted to make sure we didn't go back on our agreement. He wanted the staff in exchange for Jim and the Coalition's reach.
