Wakened

by Rankle Master of Pranks

It's been an overwhelming couple of days. After speaking to that miserable little wobbledonk at the cathedral, I flitted off to the wood so I could report the ridiculous behavior to my cousins. But.. No one seemed to care. No one would even speak to me. I'm having a hard time understanding, how everyone could just push that insult aside? I once knew a Spireling who flayed a satyr alive because they said they weren't fond of waffles, surely my kin haven't dulled since I left home? Dejected I headed back but I met a bit of a strange fellow, a cousin of sorts but certainly not a first cousin. One part of home the other part from the hells. Either way heard my calls and wanted to speak, I told him of the horrid way I was treated and he also found it despicable, but I think our intensity may have been just the tiniest bit off. Where I want the elves to learn their lesson and treat me and mine with respect my fiendish relation thought they would be better off as rotting carcasses. He charged off against my calls to hold and slaughtered a large group of the elves. I must say I'm all for a good joke, but I didn't that one all that funny, more garish than anything. I found it better to sneak back to our inn and head to bed. I'll have to try and reach my less... Violent cousins another time. Later that week we set off to go see some library or other for Abby, and we had an encounter that nearly made me swallow my tongue. Abby had just received a fancy new scarf, and right under our noses a beautiful fox had nicked it, I thought it was incredible that a simple fox as trixy and wonderful as they are had managed to sneak up on me! Quickly I sped up to it and attempted to pull the scarf out of its mouth but couldn't quite get it, then everything went very poorly. Barg barged forward and hit the fox with his full strength much to my dismay, but when it didn't immediately crumble I knew something was wrong. Even in armor if Barg wanted to he could flick me and I would turn to dust, but this fox didn't look remotely worse for wear! That wasn't a mundane fox, something was hiding its shape in a fox and was pulling a joke on us. Before I could voice my concerns the fox turned and bit Barg, releasing its hold on the scarf. I pitched back holding the thing and quickly ferried it back to Abby. After a few moments the fox revealed himself and I felt all the blood in my body run cold. Standing before us was Reynard of the Summer court, and one of my friends had dared to hit him. I have heard rumors that as far as Archons go Reynard wasn't exactly the strongest among them, but that didn't offer me much comfort when he was standing before me. I quickly offered our most profuse apologies in our tongue, thankfully he didn't seem exceptionally perturbed. He told me he was on a mission from the court to investigate the Guide and what their connection to calamity was, he sought us out because we had seen the fellow several times. He had found us at least in part due to as he called it the incredible racket I had been causing about the elves and their pride. Just like my cousins he didn't seem to care, (WHAT'S GOING ON???). As we spoke the guide apparated next to us and spoke, they said that we were untethered to fate and that made us useful. Then they poofed. Reynard also poofed. Finally I found the ability to fill my lungs again. It took a few minutes to calm down but eventually we continued on our journey. After a few days we made it to a new town, fought some trees laughed at a guy who fell off a wall then made a new friend. OH! I almost forgot Arc and I worked together and made Barg ENORMOUS! It was fantastic. We chatted with our new friend, she is a young elf, and she held herself with dignity and prowess, and was very respectful. She also shared my opinion that her kin in this region are quite the gaggle of wankers. I'm pleased to know that not everyone around here is so rude. Because she was so nice to us (me) I decided to cut the symbol of fey-friend in the side of her hair so if she was interacting with any of my kin they would treat her with the same respect she was treating us with. We also got some money for helping out the town which was nice. We're off on the road again, hopefully we meet some cousins soon who can help me figure all this out soon.
