Oh boy.
So we left Altenheim to go meet with this archmage guy, Martorius? Probably not spelling that right, he said to call him Marty so I'll do that. His castle is weird and confusing and I don't like it, much like its owner, but to be fair without him we'd be much, much worse off. While we were getting this weird dimensional thing for him Nathaniel got cursed by these other wizard guys who apparently have a magazine, so when we got the thing we asked Marty for help dealing with that. Now, the wizard guys told me I also had a curse, where I would've eventually turned into a tree monster. I'd noticed some stuff but didn't think anything of it - I was keeping an eye out for the other me in the mirror, since I saw it one time and got really paranoid. I needed to keep an eye on it in case it took over again. I didn't realise I was acting strange even when I went into this room in Marty's castle, where there was this copy of me that copied all my movements exactly, so we just ended up staring at each other. I needed to keep watch on it, or someone could get hurt. Thankfully the others were able to talk some sense into me. Marty said he could deal with both our curses, and we ended up dealing with mine first.
So yes, we went inside my head.
It wasn't as bizarre as I was expecting. In all honesty I'd expected it to just not make sense, but it looked almost exactly like Altenheim, just darker and spikier. Marty asked if there was any place I feared, as this would be where the curse probably was, so we ended up going to the Inquisition headquarters. I hope Nathaniel didn't take that the wrong way. We fought a bunch of inquisitors, including one giant one, which nearly killed us, and it turned out we couldn't heal while inside my head for...magical reasons, which really pissed me off. Wish Marty had just told us that, but he seemed to think we were too dumb to understand. I don't get magic stuff, but Alistair definitely would, he's good at this. During the fight I tried to rage, but this fleshy THING appeared and started attacking me specifically, all teeth and eyes and muscle whipping around. I flipped my shit, but we managed to fight it off. From what the others said, this is what I look like when the other me takes over, so that's...scary. When we went inside the chapterhouse, we saw...things. It's pretty fuzzy, but I know I saw myself as a girl. These creatures were hurting me, and two figures were talking about something. Later we found this courtyard where another inquisitor and his cronies were waiting, and after beating them this mirrored sphere came up out of the ground, which was apparently the curse. Marty dealt with that, thank the Seraphs.
Oh, by the way, Eliza is a Seraph? Sort of? I don't get it, but from what the others have said she's in a lot of danger because of it. That I do understand, and I'll stand with the others to protect her.
Once my curse was dealt with, we headed over to the barracks to try and rest up, as we were badly injured at that point. No healing, remember? We could use bandages but not spells, and we had no potions, so there was only so much we could do. Really we only stuck around because I wanted to try and talk to the...angry thing. Make no mistake, if there'd been trouble then I intended to run. My curiosity isn't worth their lives. But I wanted to ask it some questions, what it wanted, why it kept trying to eat people. We started heading to the archives in the barracks, where I did all that damn paperwork, and there was this massive puppet version of me giving us directions, which wasn't creepy at all. The walls were all paper stacks, but after a while we spotted the report I was looking for stuck out - the statement after I accidentally killed that poor bastard that got me stuck doing paperwork to begin with. I wanted to see if I'd missed anything, if I could learn something. Instead there was this whole section of the interview that I don't remember, at all, where I just gave really short answers and tried to leave as soon as possible.
The others saw something and told me not to look up, but apparently there was this really spindly thing watching us from around the corner. We found a shortcut - I think? - deeper into my head, so we jumped down the ominous hole and then were in this weird, dark void full of random stuff and memories. This was more what I thought the inside of my head would look like. After a few seconds these doorways opened around us, and the two figures from before showed up. One was super tall, skinny and dark with this raspy voice, and the other was the tooth and muscle thing that attacked me. The skinny thing said we shouldn't be here, and everyone started defending me, agreeing when I argued I should be welcome in my own head. The things REALLY didn't want us there. Eventually they agreed to negotiate, and the rest of the party named them: the skinny one is Calm, and the angry one is...well, Angry. Calm explained some things, and...
I think I have multiple personalities.
Angry is just one of them - the one that comes out when I'm pissed off - and Calm said they've come out a few times, including in the interview section I don't remember. I can't even process that, the idea that someone else can just take over my body and do whatever they want, and I won't even remember. If I think about it too hard I start to panic, so let's move on. Calm also came out when I killed the guy, cut his throat, so I officially have no idea what happened there. While trying my best not to completely freak out, I asked Calm to talk to me, and any others (good gods I have no idea how many people may be inside my head) to just ask me for what they wanted, instead of taking over without me knowing. I think they agreed, which is a relief. After that we agreed to leave, and I went to sit down while Nathaniel got his curse sorted out.
Okay. Okay. Oh gods.
From what they said, I'm...sort of like them? As in, I'm not...the owner of this body, I'm just sharing it with them. I guess that's why they were annoyed we went in there, as it's their head too. Fuck, the ants are back. Honestly? I'm terrified. I could just find myself in the middle of nowhere, or have said or done something awful to my friends, and I wouldn't know about it or be able to stop it. Angry has definitely tried to kill them in the past, and Calm seems...well, like they'd do anything to keep me, or us, safe. I don't know what's going to happen and I'm so scared that I can't sleep.
Well, for now, this part is for...anyone else that wakes up in my body. I've seen a play about this, and I have no idea how accurate it is, but if everyone else is also forgetting when they aren't at the wheel, then I need to tell them what's going on.
Hi. I'm Arnora, and I've talked to Calm and Angry about communicating with anyone else inside my, or our, head. If you don't know where you are, what's happening or who you're with, then this next bit is for you. We're travelling to the other side of the continent with some friends and our boss, and if you aren't with anyone I talk about here then we probably don't know them. The cranky guy in armour is Nathaniel, the bookworm-looking guy is Alistair, the veiled lady is Eliza, and the one that's always saying and trying to eat weird things is Kestrel, and our boss is Aman, the posh guy. I know these people and they're our friends, so if you're confused just tell them what's happening and they'll look after you. If they're not around then try asking for them.
Okay, I hope that works. I'll leave the next page blank if anyone wants to say anything to me.
Okay.
