A close call

by Dr. Ariela Mengalìc

How did they find us? All logic should piont us out of this sector. We had the fuel, they would know that by now. And also enough antiquities to get enough credits to be able to fall under the radar. On second thought, that's probably it. They knew we needed to sell the items. And Refferson Station is probably the most likely place to do so.
Refferson Station is a rough place. Just like the novels. I found it interesting to observe alien speicies I've only seen in holograms in real life. But we need to learn to be more careful. Walking into the bar of Vio Cars, we almost blew our hiding place. The senior officers from Imeneer was there eating. I tried to act casually, But the fear of them recognizing Tolga and myself. A Togruta and a human is strange company in these parts. Luckily 10-10-10 was not with us. But we both did well until we got the oppertunity to leave again. My glass slipped. I have no idea how I managed it. but it broke all over the floor. Still we managed to be seen as idiots and not suspicious during the clean up. We left unnoticed. But we became aware that the imperial presence might become a problem. We're not safe yet.

But the reason we were at the restaurant in the first place made us one step closer towards travelling to Alderaan. I got my fake chain code, and some diplomas of lesser prestige that gives me a lisence to practice medicine. A new identity. A better disguise to not stand out in any way. They were looking for a xenopathologican scientist with a spesialization within altering DNA, and now I'm just a physichian. Perhaps I can loose my tail. On the other hand, Tolgalainen being a padawan of the Jedi Order, might bring trouble as well. We both need to stay low. She seems to rely a lot on instincts. I guess I actually admire her that. Especially since she seems to be driven by other instincts than myself. She is a survivor. She brought me into this alternative sort of spiritual shop, owned by two Jawas by the name of Tintik and Pondin. At first I thought it was a silly store, full of bullshit. But then I looked at one of the tomes standing in the bookshelf. And I realized that it was THE mythical tome I read about in the class I took as an amusement in college. I have learned since then that the force gives new abilities. There has to be an explanation for it though. Magic is science we yet don't understand. She got the parts she was looking for, I think she's buliding some kind of tool or perhaps more likely a weapon, she isn't the crafty type. But a good fighter.
Tintik showed me some Senji needles, they seemed extremely useful. And they reminded me of the quarrels back home. The wooden box they came in, had the crest of House Rist on it. Not my family, but still, it's from Alderaan and it may remind me of who I am and why I left. I bought them.

10-10-10 has its own agenda. But it seems to have found a purpose in upgrading our ship. But as long as we stay away from Zerka it would seem to be out of danger. It is interesting how the lack of memory vipes form almost a living sentient presence in it. But it makes the droid more unpredictable and therefore more useful in a way. And it's a good pilot, much better than me, and that's a good thing. I fear that 10-10-10s former master, if I can call him that, would take that asset away from us. But for now, we need eachother.

Staying out of sight while 10-10-10 were uppgrading the ship felt smart. But then I had a night of terrible dreams. Kayo was tortured, they hurt him to get to me. I hope it was a dream, but it was so vivid. I still remember the visions from the cave underneath the temple on Imeneer. What if my mind is capable of sensing him. What if it's true? If they have him and hurt him because of my actions. I needed a drink And I found it on Muds. It's not my kind of place in past settings, but now? --Who would look for Dr. Ariela Mengalic, of noble birth, in a place like that? It felt safer in a way.
Then Tomal came up to my table. As expected, she is not very fond of us bringing the gaze of the Empire on Refferson Station. We owe her. And of course she's perfectly aware of that. In other words we have to do some services for her. Meaning: Alderaan is further away again. We need to free Tolgas master, and professor Kel Rackson if we can find them before they're dead. And we need to find 10-10-10s old boss. It needs answers. And now we need to return Tomals favour. Explore and check out certain areas finding something valuable in the uncharted terrain.
I hope Kayo knows in his heart that I'm gonna come finding him as soon as possible.
