Here there be dragons

The solar system we have arrived in, have four suns. After some searches, we figured that two different planets seemed of interest.
The first had gravity below 1 G, but we found some sorts of ruins of a settlement on a plateu. tall grass surrounded it, and there were plenty of lifesigns surronding the ruins, but nothing within. We parked the ship and started our exploration.
I was pondering on the voice I've heard entering the solar system. How does it communicate across distances? Where is the source? Was it summoning me towards this system?
We had noticed a ziggurat that seemed less destroyed, by whatever had ruined the rest of the settlement, than the structures surrounding it. We agreed upon having it as a goal for our exploration of the settlement. Mooncake flew above us as we started making our way towards the ziggurat. Something felt wrong. There were several remains of humaoid character lying around. A closer examination showed deformaties or mutations. It looked like they grown to big for their bone structure, and they had long fangs and claws. The pattern they were lying in , suggests that they had tried to get inside the bigger buildings when they fell. I did several tests to check if there was any contaigious material left, but there were no sign of it at the moment. The bones was worn white by weather and had probably been there for centuries.
We continued to head towards the main structure, the ziggurat.
Mooncake communicated to Toga, that there were corpses inside the top level. We headed there, and found three bodies lying within something I was made to recognize as a trap door. These corpses had not rotted, they had become mummified, my guess because of the environmental stability of the structure. I found no outer marks or other reason for them to have died. Just as the skeletons We found down in the streets. I was suppose to examine them more closely when the murals caught my eyes and I ended up examining them instead. Suddenly I felt overwhelmingly ill. Toga seemed concerned, but I went out for some fresh air.
Outside I noticed how great the view was from the top of the ziggurant. I could see the entire layout of the city. It was not as any city I've ever seen before. Almost as it was built to simulate a certain sign. As soon as I got outside I stopped feeling ill. As an immediate effect. But at the time I didn't take further notice.
When I returned inside, 10-10-10 called out that it'd found a mechanism. There was a door in the room that were closed off and seemed locked. I went over to 10-10-10 and released the mechanism, which started what would seem like a machinery, that released the trap door with a crash and opened the main door. Toga, who was standing right infront of the door got the worst of a whiff of old dust and some smell of etherical oils, as the door opened. Inside, we found a tablelike pedestal. The windows in the room, perhaps more like openings close to the ceiling let in light from the outside which perfectly illuminated the tabletop, and I noticed a familiar marking on it: It looked like the same pattern or sign the city was constructed after.
Other than this table, there was some shelves with really old scrolls in them, but they were in bad shape. Looking across the room I found a sort of staff in the corner. I picked it up and in the same moment I decided to bring it with me, I got a notion that this staff belonged to me. (or did I belong with it?)
Mooncake stayed outdoors this entire time. Was it scared or just tired of being in confined spaces?
After searching the second floor from the top for another entrance, we found one in the floor beyond. Searching it we found some dormatories. And in one of the rooms another mummified body, but this one holding a datapad, which 10-10-10 took and connected to itself to give it power. It contained textfiles in a ancient language and some holograms.
We decided to continue searching this floor, and found a great hall with sort of amfi seating up at the sides. three great pillars held the roof, and it was there we first heard the clawing sound, then some sneering and screams. Lighting down the floor below us, we realized the there were lots of big creatures down there with long claws and fangs. Our thoughts went to the remains we found outside. My first notion was to return to the ship before dark. We knew they were aware of our presence. So we decided to leave. Fast. Running down the main stairs we suddenly heard a scream for behind us. I turned around seeing several of these creatures or perhaps monsters is a better word, sneering.
I'm not certain what happened next. I remember I froze. My head stopped working and Iwanted to get something between myself and them creatures I sort of lashed out with the staff on a reflex I was full of fear, and I did... something... Toga and 10-10-10 seemed fully focused on fighting. And before I understood anything but we were overwhelmed by the monsters, the biggest beast slashed at me, and I ran.
I was falling behind, I felt pain, and I had trouble breathing as adrenaline pumped through my veins. And then suddenly it happened:
10-10-10 which had the lead running suddenly stopped. It turned around and started shooting at the beasts behind us. Toga grabbed my arm and helped me speed up. Together we ran past 10-10-10 who held the line. "go fetch the ship and kill them with the turrets and fix me afterwards" he yelled as we ran past him. I felt a need to help protect this droid, and took some shots at the beasts behind us as Toga led me towards the ship.
One group of beasts ran past 10-10-10 and continued after us. But suddenly they continued in the wrong direction. But as soon as we were at the ship, they were there, attacking almost all were dead when the final beast had Toga pinned down on the ground. Iherad 10-10-10 return behind me as I suddenly felt calm. Probably adrenaline overload. I put my blaster to the beasts head from behind and pulled the trigger. The goo went everywhere.
We took off, Toga took a shot with the ships turrets at the big beast which was following 10-10-10. And we went into orbit seeing several of other beast emerge from their hiding places swarming the ruins we left behind.
I tried to patch my self up, and made a mess over the sitting area. Thereafter I tried to fix up 10-10-10. And at last Toga. She told me that I used the force back there. And I felt ill. Scared. I remembered the voice and I thought if I could do things when I was scared out of my mind, what could I accomplish if I could control my fear?
