Shy but ballsy young adult elf.
Miette Eshna Colliearnach was born in a tribe of Wood Elves to Daingean Colliearnach and Moineau Epervier in the Southwood. Both of her parents are Deaf, making her an ODE (Offspring of Deaf Elves). She learned the language of the forest, Leafspeak, from her parents - a language that consists mostly of gestures that mimic the leaves of the trees and the breezes of the air.
Her father, the cobbler, taught her to make shoes and her mother taught her to live off of the land. Her tribe was peaceful, respectful of other living creatures of all types, and she was a happy child. When she was old enough to leave the forest, she began to make deliveries for the family business. This gave her opportunity to experience little pieces of the world outside of her tribe and she showed a natural talent for cartography, her father’s hobby. Her parents encouraged this habit and helped her learn skills in mapmaking. In learning the proper symbols for cartography Miette now sees how lacking her father's skills and knowledge were. She often wondered if her father was just making up the symbols on his maps or if they had some personal meaning to him. In Miette’s 87th year of life, she was returning from a delivery when she stopped to greet a pair of cloaked figures coming the other way. They ignored her and hurried on their way. When she turned back to her path, she saw a strange, black cloud rising from the direction of her home. She ran to the edge of the forest only to be met with a wall of flame. She strove to find a way through, but the flames blocked her every path. She could feel the heat on her skin, but she tried to push through, earning herself a burn on her forearm for her troubles. In pain and frustration, she lost time. When she came to, the fire and forest were both gone. Miraculously, the blaze had not spread to the surrounding foliage. Miette’s feet automatically found their way to her home, but there was no sign of her tribe. Nothing to indicate whether they were alive or dead. She gathered what few supplies she could find and set out into the world, determined to find out the truth and be part of a tribe once more, but though her heart yearns for connection, she is unwilling to trust so easily again. In the last century, she has found no more information; yet, she continues to hope.
