Falco Chubbermuffin is a Rogue Lightfoot Halfling who left his home after his wife, Apryl Chubbermuffin, was killed by the local tax collector in the town when he was unable to pay off a debt he owed. He has left behind three beloved pets: Petunia, the tea cup pig; Bilbo the ferret; and Mittensworth, a ragged black cat past his prime.
Each animal is special to Falco in their own way.
 
The Chubbermuffin Farm, which dates back three generations to his grandma and grandpa, Ennius Chubbermuffin and Nedda Chubbermuffin, is in danger of foreclosure, and Falco has done everything he can to protect his beloved home. He bears a deep grudge against the tax collector, but he was not there when Apryl was killed and has not ever seen the man, who has always come around when he is not home and always manages to vanish whenever Falco tries to find him. The man, Falco suspects, was trying to prey on the “weaker” members of his family (Apryl, Ennius, and Nedda). None of them have given in to the collector, always managing to scrape by, but the latest threat has become too much and Falco finds himself unable to pay, so he’s been forced to leave his home in order to find the funds to pay off the debt, lest he lose everything and his grandparents become homeless. In addition, his sweet Petunia has disappeared.
 
Falco bears a deep hatred in his heart for the tax collector and all organized law that seems to take advantage of the little people. He strives to undermine such authority and his inquisitive nature won’t let him forget what has happened to his wife and the mysterious tax collector. Despite his own need and his lack of scruples when it comes to taking money from those who seem to be too powerful for their own good, he has a great heart and will give money to those less fortunate than him.
 
Falco’s farm is located near Trielta Hills. The Chubbermuffin Farm hosted Ennius and Nedda, and then they had children, Posco Chubbermuffin and Itta Chubbermuffin. Posco ended up marrying Ogiva Whitfoot and gave birth to Falco. Falco met Apryl Hopesinger and they married, but have no children. They adopted three animals, however. Itta never married, claiming she was wed to the farm.
