Lean but muscular, his physique hardened by a lifetime of combat and survival. His skin is an ashen gray-green with mottled scars crisscrossing his body. His posture has grown hunched with age.

Personal history

Rhal's early life was one of hardship and bloodshed. Born to a wandering Orc warrior and a human healer, he grew up on the fringes of society, never fully accepted by either race. As a young man, he turned to mercenary work, gaining a reputation for his ruthlessness and tactical brilliance. It wasn't a huge leap from traditional mercenary work into more criminal endeavors. Being sidelined by the majority of society made it even easier. 
 
Branching out and working within the criminal underworld of Glayswen, his alias, "The Spider," originated from his habit of methodically dismantling enemy forces, leaving no room for escape or retaliation and the maximum payout.
 
Rhal's downfall came during a political assassination he was hired to orchestrate. The mission went awry, resulting in the deaths of innocents and the exposure of his clients' plans. Betrayed and made the scapegoat, Rhal was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment on Inner Jord, where he has now spent decades of his life.
 
Rhal has claimed the tunnels and caves beneath a ruined Dwarven fort on the island. His lair is a labyrinthine network of chambers filled with traps and supplies scavenged or stolen from other inmates. He shares this lair with a pair of owlbears; Brynn is the larger and more aggressive of the pair, with a streak of white feathers across her chest, while Kael is slightly smaller but quicker and more protective. These trained companions are Rhal’s guardians and only true friends. They are fiercely loyal and respond to his commands with unnerving precision.

Intellectual Characteristics

Exceptionally cunning in his youth, Rhal was adept at reading people and situations. He would weave intricate plans and play the long game in his dealings to wait for the right moments to strike, which is how he gained his moniker. After being sent to Jord his intelligence served him well in surviving the myriad dangers of on the prison island and its other inhabitants.
