meeting Aloys Vizara de-Lascaux at the Tattered Cover

June 7th: Eurydice and I met Aloys at the Tattered Cover to discuss and plan our next moving on righting the wrong of what happened to The Pneuma. Aloys Vizara de-Lascaux was there with his mentor, Flymanthus. Flymanthus was... proud that Aloys Vizara de-Lascaux had advanced in the Upright Tailors, the Weaver coven that they both belonged to. Manthis was quite friendly and inquired about us. I gave out the name of my tailor, Rhiannon, who crafted my clothes and is quite skilled for custom tailoring. After some brief convesation, Flymanthus left us to discuss our business. We shared what we had learned of Calivan

• Both Aloys Vizara de-Lascaux and I had tried to use magick to see inside, but the wards are quite potent and kept us out




• Dr Nadia Gore works there from 8am - 10pm, has birdlike eyes, and always carries a briefcase




• Dr. Sohn works there the nightshift, 8pm - 8am, has patched tweed clothing




• Kylie works the swing shift, has other qualities of some kind?




• once a week, the trash is picked up/consumed by the local 878 union trash monster named ???




• other than the three above, no one else enters or leaves Calivan




• through using the Web of Actuality, I was able to find Caulder Slade's large ruined home in part of the Fade called the Skitterling




• the strands of the Web of Actuality that are connected to Caulder Slade are almost all blackened and ruined, evidence of whatever backlash has left him in a weakened state

 

Talking with Trash

So the plan was to go get the trash and have Elkan of House Argent, III talk to it so we could learn more about @Calivan. A quick expedition and some weaving by Aloys Vizara de-Lascaux netted us some trash!

• the Coffee cup - used by Dr. Nadia Gore, filled with coffee and drank in Gore's office which contained a large red button that was pressed for some purpose.




• ??? - some random piece of garbage that wasn't very informative




• the Rook - from a chess set played nightly by Dr. Sohn and the inmates, Peeke Tenil and Maphre

 

Research! an uneventful trip to Menter's

We went to do some more research and I ran into a fellow vance, Izabelle Nora who needed assistance finding a book on fluid dynamics for a spell she was creating for some kind of fluid containment. After assisting Izabelle Nora, she gave me an invitation to her soiree of wine, conestibles, and fine company next week.

Hitting the periodicals on Peeke Tenil we discovered that they are an Apostate that once escaped their cell and then killing a nurse Derlan Majorca when they exploded in a fiery inferno. This was the reason Peeke was in Calivan. They had a magic experiment that caused them to explode and then reform days later in never ending loop. Further research revealed that Derlan Majorca was buried at Cloying Guardians Memorial Park Cemetery. We then left Menter's without incident, headed to the cemetery.

 

the Marked Grave

The Cloying Guardians Memorial Park Cemetery gets its name for the sickly sweet flowers that grow there, that aren't nearly as overpowering as the lavendar mist that spews from Izabelle constantly. Finding Derlan's grave, Eurydice Manikas of the Glowing Palms called forth his ghost and we bargained for information. Freeing Derlan's spirit to go to the Pale in exchange for inside information on Calivan. We learned that the wards work like onion layers of disabling different sun's magic. Silver, Blue, Green, Indigo, Grey, Etc... This usually works, but with Vislae, nothing is ever certain. Since eventually a Vislae will get an Incantation from the universe that will work to free them. We also learned that sometimes the wards were turned off and on with the red buttons. Dr. Sohn, did indeed play chess with Maphre and Peeke Tenil as a form of therapy. The rook we retrieved from the trash was from this set and must have gotten there by Maphre so that we could use sympathetic magic to bypass the wards and allow Maphre, a powerful telepath to communicate with us. Having learned what we could about Calivan, we proceeded to fulfill our end of the bargain. The problem being that is was mystifying what could be keeping Derlan's spirit here as by his own admission, he lived a boring life as an NPC. We then found the problem, on the back of his tombstone was a mark in the form of a stylized unbalanced scale in gold, a symbol of The Enemy of Prudence also known as Mammon. It seemed strange that Derlan had warranted such a mark on his grave, but I was able to use the Word to change the sigil to a vigil sanctifying the grave and freeing Derlan's spirit to pass to the Pale. There were some side effects of the fluxes in magic that were manifested from Eurydice Manikas of the Glowing Palms and I's attempts at removing the mark.....

 

Mr. Agon, wish fulfillment and extermination services

Mr. Agon, a dark cloud headed demon and businessman, who Variagan used to seal his house from D.E. Manny, appeared as if we summoned him. Mr. Agon offered wish fulfillment, suggesting we employ them to get us inside @Calivan to speak with Maphre. We inquired about his rates, which after some dissembling was revealed to be in the currency of souls for most services, perhaps mage coin depending on the specific wish. We indicated we had not called on Mr. Agon and that we could keep in mind his services for the future, but did not need them at this time.

 

the Message from Maphre

We went to The Embattled Library to work the magic of piercing the wards of Calivan using the rook as a piece of sympathetic magic. The rook was of the chess board that would be near Maphre and @Dr. Sohn at midnight. Upon the hour, Aloys Vizara de-Lascaux weaved a spell using the rook to pierce the ward and Maphre then spoke in our minds.
