Lyariel lived through the tragedy of Judgement Day, though she was with her father on a diplomatic mission to The Lost City of Sylvania's sister city Elscyra. Suddenly, her home and her mother were gone in a single moment. Her father, Dextyrs Brighleith, was without a job, as he was the minister for external affairs for the Sylvanic Council. They now had to re-orient their lives within the elven sister city that has just pledged itself to independence and soft isolationism. Her father reprised his career as the lead diplomat, which also happened to be what Lyariel was groomed for. She was set with connections, the tools for the job, and enough charisma to be even better than him.
 
Twenty five years after the disaster, her father was finally comfortable with sending her to a long-term diplomatic mission at the newly founded mining settlemen of Echo Falls. While her main objective may be prominently oriented in keeping peace within the region, in order to prevent any violent chain reactions from spilling over into Elscyra, she is also used as a pseudo spy listening post for Elven officials on Echo Falls politics. She has, however, also developed relations with the people of the town over the years she has stayed.
