Mentality

Personal history

Born in a location close to the capital of Tastein. He, as anyone else, was educated by the tribe he was born in, who taught him how to hunt, forage and create his own weapon. Before maths was invented, he managed to invent the crossbow which became vital to the continued survival of his species.
The population was getting to an all time low, going into the 100 000's worldwide. The threat of extinction was real, but no one knew that. They havent even fully mapped out their planet.  As they continued to do so, they found more tribes hostile to their own. At that point, the suon race was still pre-sapient.
Thankfully, Karzen, the leader of Tarlox's tribe and his friend, managed to subjugate a number of tribes using diplomacy. Information passed around the lot rapidly, some of the gear inspiring Tarlox. He built a new kind of massive crossbow bolt designed to penetrate thick skulls and hit the brain behind it. Suons never were at the top of the food chain...
This new gear allowed the tribe to expand even more, subjugating more tribes. Shortly after, though, the Unification War started. In one of the earliest battles, Tarlox had to use his armour piercing arrows against another tribe with tamed megafauna. Inspired by his enemy, he requested to have tamed megafauna of his own. This proved expensive due to food costs, but also incredibly powerful as he mounted heavy armour and a large crossbow weapon in a rotating turret. Killed enemies were used to feed it.

Mental Trauma

The sheer amount of lives he had to claim. His kill count is well into the thousands. It occasionally involved killing people screaming for life.
His greatest fears are his species, or those of the Federation, going extinct. He and his federation are constantly under threat by external and internal powers.

Suons are asexual, but not all Tebburus species are. Sexuality has very little impact on suon culture, but it can be seen as a curiosity. Tarlox shares these views.

Motivation

He wants the best for his people. He is terrified of all the genocidal factions out there and feels it is partly his duty to protect the Hyperion Federation.
