Trained Infiltrator -Proficiency in stealth and Perception skills, expertise if already proficient
One shot, One kill - When you hit a creature with an aimed shot, you can force that creature to make a con save. On a failed save, you roll additional damage dice equal to your aimed shot dice rounded down.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain with a long rest.
Advanced Vision - Your eyes are extremely trained to see at multiple conditions. You may ignore any disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight as long as you are not blinded, and have advantage on saving throws against the blinded condition.

Disappear - You are a true Master of stealth and capable of fading into thin air. As a reaction, when you take damage, you can use this ability to move up to 5ft without provoking oppotunity attacks and attempt to hide as part as the same reaction, if there's a hiding spot within reach.
You can also use this reaction if you make an attack while unseen.
Hawk Eye - you can see up to 1 mile away with no difficulty, able to discern even fine details as though looking at something no more than 100 feet away from you.
Additionally, you have advantage on your Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Additionally, any hit you score against a creature that is surprised is a critical hit.

Dual Personalities - Most of your fellow adventurers and the world know you as your persona. Those who seek to learn more about you-your weakness, your origins, your purpose-find themselves stymied by your disguise. Upon donning a disguise and behaving as your persona you are unidentifiable as your true self. By removing your disguise and revealing your true face, you are no longer identifiable as your persona. This allows you to change appearances between your two personalities as often as you wish, using one to hide the other or serve as convenient camouflage. However, should someone realize the connection between your persona and your true self, your deception might lose its effectiveness.

Battlement Bow
Weapon
Uncommon Requires Attunement
This magic bow is enchanted with passive abjuration protections. When you hit a creature with a ranged attack using the bow, the bow creates a thin barrier of protective magic that stays between you and that creature until the start of your next turn. If you hit a different creature while protected by the barrier, the barrier moves to defend you against the new target instead. While the barrier is protecting you against a creature in this way, you're considered to have half cover against that creature's ranged attacks and spell effects.

Personal history
Chapter 1He was somewhat new to it all, albeit that they had been adventuring for months now, and trips on the road were not a new thing for him. But having a cart to travel to the places you wish to go allowed for quiet, thinking time.
The somewhat quiet chatter of his adventuring group had begun to fade as Beau blocked out the noise, choosing to close his eyes and instead focus on the environment around. The rumble of the cart, the galloping of the horses as they headed to their faraway destination, the sounds of the birds singing gallantly among the trees and the slight scribble of ink being struan against a page.
Though he was used to the darkness that presented behind his eyes, he couldn't help but let his mind wander, and memories began to fester in his brain.
He was small, his hand being led by a woman with beautiful long white hair, that had a red gradient at its tips, and eyes shining with crimson colour that hard to tell, had a somewhat diamond shape held at its center. Alongside her was a man, burly in size, his hair short and shaggy, almost black as night with only the blue reflection of the sky giving it colour.
His eyes, though no longer able to think about them without pain, gave off an emerald green hue, though a sharper diamond in their center. He remembered how loud it was, the music being played, and the large buildings that reached far up into the sky. Though they weren't of great quality, they have an almost warm glow to them, although that might be nostalgia's touch.
He remembers arriving at this shabby looking building, with a large round window at the top, and a dirty and empty looking apartment. Though he is no longer present, he can almost smell the musk and dust in the air, and feel the excitement of starting fresh brimming off his mother. He can envision the way the sunlight rays hit the floor and the dust particles dance in the sunlight, when it was all perfect.
Pfft. perfect, yeah right
Beau's memories stop when the cart comes to a sudden slow. Opening his eyes, the day still had light left, so assuming they were stopping for camp was out of the question. They also had only left Estorra a few days ago, so they hadn't reached their destination either.
All his questions were quickly answered when he looked to the front of the cart and was greeted with the sight of... children? how odd.
It was all explained when the children start to shout threats of robbing them... especially about their shoes?
All Beau knew was he was one of three in this group with shoes, and he was not willing to give them up.
"How about a game of hide and seek? you hide for long enough, you win, and you get our stuff"
With hesitance but eventual acceptance, the kids ran off into the woods.
"we can go now"
And just like that, the party continued on.
They had been silent for a while after the encounter, before dread flooded through them at the sight of the citadel.
After that all, they settled for the night with a campfire on the side of the road. Maybe it was due to Beaus' daydreaming, but he couldn't help but space out again. The slight chatter as the fire crackled and the crickets sang were just the perfect atmosphere to let his mind wander again.
Chapter 2
The slight hum of music played in the background, his mother singing along as he watched a red and orange lizard perched on one of the window sills, preparing to jump the moment he made any movement to get closer. However, he was determined to catch this lizard, it would be his prey.
Slowly, he braced his feet and zoned in on the lizard, who looked at him challengingly, ready to fly at any given moment.
Taking in a slow, deep breath, he braced.
Ready...
Set..
.
.
.
BANG
"Muuummmmmmm" Beau had run up to his mother, holding his head with tears in his eyes.
"Oh honey, what did you do?" She asked, setting aside the wrench on her workbench and spun her chair around to face him.
His mother enjoyed inventing small trinkets to help the wider community, and it was her dream to run a shop that was both affordable and helpful to everyone. She had seemed to be working on a jug of some kind which was weird, because who uses a wrench to create a jug?
"I tried to catch that stinking lizard, but he got away before I could... and I whacked my head and it really hurts"
"let me see" She moved her hands gently , with such kindness when lifting his hands to look at the damage.
"Oh gods... It seems you have a bit of a bump forming on your head. Sit here, and I will go get you a cold compress"
Lifting him onto the chair where she was previously, she wandered off into the kitchen. Taking the chance, and no longer thinking about either the lizard or the bump, Beau spun on the chair to see what treasures lived on his mothers work bench. From what he could see, there was the jug she was working on previously, a bag open yet empty and a small robot like animal, though deactivated.Curious, he reached over to see if there were any hidden treasures in the bag, perhaps out of view."Please don't touch anything! You might lose a finger" His mother warned as she rounded the corner from the kitchen, a wet rag in her left hand.
Quickly, and gracefully (in his eyes anyway) he spun the chair back to where it was previously to disperse any suspicion she may have had.
"Let's go lie down for a bit, and we will keep the compress on your head for awhile"
"It looks cold"
"Sorry honey, it is. But it will make you feel better" He remembers her lifting him from the chair and leading him to the bedroom. Though the bed was somewhat small, it was quite comfortable.
However, that might be the nostalgia speaking again.
He doesn’t know why in particular this memory had come to his mind, maybe it was due to the cold, or the fact he missed how warm that bed was in comparison to the cart as they began to pull up on the small town of Juran.
He hated how his mind wandered. That was a long time ago, and no wishing would bring it back, only sting at the mental scars that were left.
Chapter 3Beau had decided to set up in the large window of the small apartment, Letting the sun paint his skin with its warmth. He was colouring some of his previous pieces, some inventions he thought his mum should make, like a lizard capture device or a pen that could change colour at will, for the ultimate colouring experience.
While colouring however, something outside the window caught his eye. Looking down, a kid stood there, with a mirror in hand, waving frantically at him.
It took him a moment to realize the kid was speaking to him, though it was a bit hard to understand.
"Hey you! Come down!"
down?
Beau put the stuff down by his side, and ran over to his mum
"Hey mum, can I go outside?"
"Uhhh sure, though don't go running off with random strangers" She waved him off, clearly invested in something small and tedious on her workbench.
Putting on some old shoes that were falling apart at the seams, Beau ran down the stairs to meet with the kid. He had semi long brown hair, mostly tied into a little ponytail, but part of a fringe that framed his face. His eyes were a bright blue, and his skin was sunkissed that contrasted his eyes well.
"Hey! I saw you in the window, and we need another person to play soccer with to make our teams even, do you want to play?"
"Want to play? I don't get it" Beau tried to repeat the words spoken to him
"Oh" The kid seemed to get it, because he gestured to the ball in his hand and pretended to kick it, before pointing between Beau and himself.
"Like, hit it? I can try... Sorry, my common not good" Beau tried. The kid only seemed to laugh, before pulling him along to a group of other kids waiting around.
"I found someone! His name is...?" The kid looked at him questioningly.
"Name?...my name ...Beau, yours?" He tilted his head. Though he didn't understand the language well, he wanted to at least try and learn the kids' names.
"My name is Ryder, and The girl with the pink hair is Amalie"
"Hello!"
"The boy with the Headband is Harlow"
"Yo yo yo!"
"The drow is Raine, they are a bit shy"
"Uhhh, hi"
"And the girl over their with the dark braid is Karla"
"Can we start already?"
"Patience is a virtue Kay, if you want the newbie to play with us. anyway, you got it?"
"I think I got it. how play though?"
"Ooooo, I like his guts." The girl with the pink hair, Amalie, spoke up.
"It might be easier if you watch. The idea is to get the ball in the other teams goal, and vise versa"
"Vise versa?"
"umm, like the other way round... its a bit hard to explain, but I'm sure if you hang around with us you will pick it up" Raine smiled kindly as they walked over
"We just met him, are we going around and inviting everyone now?" Karla rolled her eyes, as she began by kicking the ball.
"Hey! wait up"
Carefully observing, Beau began to pick up the moves quickly, how each of them moved and how it played for or against their actions. To make it fair, they let Raine sit out with Beau, but it meant he didn't really get to see their play style, nevertheless, he didn’t mind their company, especially teaching him words associated with the game in common.
"Can I have go?" Beau asked, though he hadn't actually participated in any of the games thus far, he had a feeling he could have a shot.
"Already ready to jump in? Hell yeah" Harlow stated "though I won't go easy"
"try me" Beau smirked.
As they began playing, Beau was a bit clumsy when hitting the ball, but he managed to swipe it a couple times as the speed came with his smaller stature, especially with Harlow's larger size.
However, once getting past the bigger kid, he came face to face with the tiefling girl, Amalie, who was just as fast as he was. Luckily for him, he was a quick learner, and observed one team passing the ball to one another, and took a chance by sending it to the other boy's direction, Ryder.
With a small cheer, Ryder focused in on the goal, barely missing Karla’s face as the ball hit the shabby net, and slowly rolled away.
With an exasperated sigh from Karla, she wandered to the back of the net to retrieve the ball as the other team cheered.
“Nice pass Beau!”
“You good hit too!” Beau replied, beaming as Raine came over to high fives them both.
“It’s getting late so I should probably head home, you guys should too,” Amalie suggested as Karla came back to the small gathered group.
“Awww, but I didn’t get to verse the new kid. I wanted to crush his dreams” Karla pouted.
“Crush my dreams?” He tilted his head in confusion.
“Don’t mind her, but we can play tomorrow? Do you wanna come and play some more beau? Or we could play another game?” Ryder asked
“More soccer! Yeah!” Beau cheered.
“Sweet! I will come get you tomorrow, how does that sound?” Ryder smiled at him, excitement brimming in his eyes.
“Yes, sound good, I think”
After they all said their goodbyes, Beau ran home to tell his mother all about the day he had, and the new friends he had met.
This question game was starting to get to much for Beau’s taste. Sure, he would gain information about the people he had been traveling with a while now, and any personal dirt he would need if this went wrong, but he had felt himself letting up his act a little and he knew the threat that could present itself by doing so.
He didn’t mean to, but he let mention of his bloodline slip, and Ginny, Zilla and maybe the worst of them, Gore now knew this information. He had to remind himself to keep them at arms distance, as betrayal from people you count as friends hurts worse than anything a stranger could do.
friends are liabilities after all.
Chapter 4He stood there, in-between the door frame of the hallway and his parents room. He had another recurring nightmare of a giant snake, Eyes bright and staring him down before swallowing him whole. No matter what, he couldn't shake the feeling of being watched.
But no matter how bad the nightmare was, he couldn't find the courage to wake his mother. It felt like a moment of paralysis, as he still felt like the eyes were watching him and he didn't wish to travel back to his room where it could be waiting. After lingering for 10 minutes, he found the courage to walk to his mothers side of the bed and lightly pull on the sheets, hoping it would be enough. After no response, he turned and got comfortable on the floor beside her.
"My little serpentine, what are you doing up? You should be in bed" Spooked, he jumped and whipped around to face her. She looked tired, but her eyes didn't carry any anger, just concern.
"I um... I had a bad dream.... about the big snake again... I feel like its still here..."
"Oh honey, come here" She slightly lifted herself from the bed, hands reaching out. As Beau approached her, she swiftly picked him up and swung him under the covers, and proceeded to capture him among her arms.
"The only big scary snake here is me, and I got you now" She giggled.
"No! let me freeeeeeee" Beau giggled as he began to squirm, and attempted to disappear under the covers, not making it far as she had a tight grip on him.
"Your not going anywhere, you are under arrest for being up late, and jail time is one night in your mothers arms."
They laid there for a few minutes, and though comfort from her arms and the blanket wrapped around them helped, he still couldn't sleep.
"Mum..."
...
"Yeah"
"Can you sing the lullaby? I like it when you sing"
"always for you, little serpentine"
Slightly adjusting her position, carefully laying his head on her lap and begun playing with his hair, her voice began to echo off the walls of the room, a soft melody ringing out.
♫ Bend down low to the Lily of the valley
And you’ll hear the chime of a million little bells.
The unsung words in the echo of the music
Are the secret that the lilies never tell Isn’t it a wonder what you hear of you can listen to the small things of the world we’re living in?
Bend down low to the Lily of the valley For the music’s there and waiting to begin.
The elfin bells of the Lily of the valley fill the moonlit glance of the garden and beyond.
From your window at night if you are lucky,
You’ll see the fairies dancing on the lawn.
And when she looked down again, light snores could be heard from her little bundle.
It was helping Lilliana in her garden and the talk at the tea party that sprung the memory to mind, and Beau almost wanted to hum the tune while he watched the little vegetables dancing around the place.
But, as strong as Beaus will, he would not dare threaten the idea of sadness to be perceived by anyone here.
He wasn’t supposed to have emotion after all, that is a weakness a tool shall not possess.
Chapter 7It had been another bad day, she hadn’t had the strength to leave her bed, and Beau spent his time by her side, slowly following the instructions of the medicine Raine's parents had provided them, though little due to lack of funds.
“Beau, why don’t you go rest? I’ll be okay” She spoke in but a whisper.
“It’s ok, Mum. I feel fine” He tried to give her a reassuring smile, but by the look on her face, she didn’t believe him.
“Beau.”
“I’d rather look after you. You have to get better, and I will rest when your are.” He knew he looked more pale than usual, and maybe his face held small bags under his eyes, but he knew the sooner she got better, the sooner he could sleep.
“Little serpentine, that’s not your job. You should be out with your friends, not locked in a room with me” *cough*
“My friends are happy to wait, I’m happy to wait. When you are better, then I can play with them”
“Beau, you’re nine years old, this isn’t what you should be spending your time doing, hon. It should be your fathers. you should go out and play-”
“Don’t! I will make sure you get better, if Pelor does nothing about it, then I will! So don’t tell me what to do” He refused to acknowledge the empathy she wore on her face.
He felt a rise of panic when she moved to sit up, and patted the spot in the bed beside her.
“It’s okay” He didn’t want to break down, he was a big kid now, and it was his job to look after his mother while his father wasn’t home.
But he couldn’t help but climb up onto the bed next to her, she just made it feel so comforting.
“I know you don’t want to hear this...”
“Mum, please no”
“Beau, I know. But there is that possibility that I, you know, and I want you to know you will be okay. You have your friends, you have your father, and you have your amazing artistic ability. You will probably become one of the most famous ”*cough* “artists in the world!” *cough*
“And I will always be here” She rested her hand above his chest, where his heart lay.
“I hate when you speak like this.” He pushed her hand away.
“Why can’t you believe you will get better? Is my effort not enough? am I not doing good enough?”
“Beau, no-”
“Then why?!” He felt it now, the wetness on his cheeks, and the rising frustration at his mothers words, the lack of energy that weighed at his every limb. She looked tired too, that’s what happens when you are left to raise a child while sick.
He just didn’t want to be a burden.
And it was all so confusing to him, why one of the nicest people had been so unlucky, why the gods couldn’t just leave them alone, let them have a simple life.
At first his anger was pointed at his mum, but then it was at his Dad for not being here, then at the gods for never answering her prayers, or to answer his, for this sickness to continue burdening his mother out of everyone.
Hell, he would rather have it if it meant she would get better and help more people.
It also made him upset at the idea she had already accepted her death, that she knew something he didn’t but wasn’t willing to say. He wasn’t ready to lose her, not yet, and maybe that was selfish to think, but there were so many things he would miss.
“why you...?” Pulling him out of his thoughts was the feeling of arms wrapping around him, and hushed whispers from above him. He realized he had started shaking as quiet sobs racked his body.
“Beau, Its ok, you are right, I’m here.” He doesn’t know how long they sat like that, the guilt of his words sat in the pit of his stomach, and ate away at Beau for having freaked out while he is meant to be looking after his mum.
And her reassuring him made him feel worse, it wasn’t her job to look after him, it was his to look after her, so he mustered up the strength and wiped away at his tears before moving off the bed.
“Sorry, Mum. I um, gonna go make soup” Her face flashed with many emotions when he started to leave the room. In that moment, he never realized the panic she felt as a parent, a loss at what to say to her child, whether it was to comfort him or to apologize he will never know.
“Beau” A small whisper from her room.
“Yeah?” He poked his head in.
“I love you”
“... love you too”
When he got back with the soup, she had passed out, as the outlet of emotions was probably to much to be put on a ill person. So while he waited, he decided to draw her a bouquet of flowers, mainly of Lilies of the valley as he couldn’t afford to actually buy flowers, and the lack of them in the city made it harder to go out and pick.
Days like these were stressful, but they managed.
The weather had reached a new low as it had been colder in the past week. In Ultarn, it never really got to cold during the day, but was cooler due to being around the middle of winter.
It had been stressful, and tiring, especially due to their yuan-ti blood that made them sleepier than most during this time, and Beau would hate to think what it would be like to live in the snow up in Ignus.
Though what was the most stressful was how his mother had been coping with the cold. It had made her illness a lot worse, due to the lack of sweat or shivering that would usually help anyone else. Beau found most nights he would layer what he could on her, and snuggle up against her.
Her coughing fits had been bad, with specks of blood coming up since her throat was raw. Though it didn’t stop her from occasionally tinkering with a small item or wandering around the house when she wasn’t supposed to. She still did her best to look after Beau even though it made him upset. He didn’t want her to push herself for him.
Beau remembers the date vividly, as it was one of the worse days in his life, the 41st day of Winter.
He had woken up to another coughing fit, and rushed to go get water. When he came back, he noticed she was a lot colder than before, and piled anything he could find around the house.
“Hey” She looked up at him, her tired eyes still trying to reassure him that he was doing well, though her voice not giving the same reassurance as it was raspy, a whisper.
“Don’t worry, you will warm up, just give it a moment-”
“Beau, please...”
“Please don’t-”
“I love you, my little serpentine” At this point, her hands reached for his, they were freezing, but gentle. He knew, his could feel the dread piling up in his stomach as she looked up at him. After all this, she was still the one comforting him.
“Wait, please don’t go, not yet”
“It’s ok”
“Stop saying that! please don’t leave me, I need you, Mum.”
“please, Beau... say it back...”
“but I-I don’t want to, I don’t, I don’t want to lose you...” His eyes could barely see shapes anymore, let alone her sad smile as they were filled with tears.
“please?”
“I love you too” She smiled as she relaxed, as her hands slipped off of Beaus, and her light breaths stopped.
“Hang on, please”
“Mum?”
“Just a bit longer, ok?“
“Mum?!”
“Not yet, please not yet”
"I need you, so please”
“not yet”
Beau didn’t know when he started yelling, holding his mothers hand as he kneeled against the floor.
But he begged, begged for this to be some twisted nightmare.
He begged for the god she prayed to whenever she could to bring her back.
He begged for a healer to walk through those doors and tell him everything was fine now.
But no matter how much he begged, he sobbed, asked for anyone to come save her. Nothing happened.
It had become dark outside by the time he crawled into the other side of the bed, and held her body close, as he passed out, the pleading on his tongue for help came to a stop.
The next few days felt like they would never end. When he awoke, he would stare and cry quietly, as he had no more energy to do much else. He couldn’t be bothered to move from his spot, and food seemed like a chore. At other points, he would become hysterical, the pleading starting up again, even if only for a couple hours before he would pass out again.
He just wished for his father to come home.
Movement could be heard from the front of the apartment, and beau looked around to see what time it could be.
“Hello?” His father.
Suddenly, He was full of adrenaline, and bolted for his Dad. He could fix this, right?
Beau crashed into his leg, where his father rubbed his hand along his head, confused.
“Hey squirt, what’s wrong?” At this, he cried more, as he pulled at the mans shirt in either an attempt to pull him along or to be held. Beau didn’t know anymore.
“Beau, what’s wrong?”
“It-it’s mum.” At this, His fathers face dropped. He moved Beau to his side before rushing to their bedroom, before stopping in his tracks.
He didn’t see much after that, as his could hear his dads sobs as he entered the room, and closed the door behind him with a lock. At that sound, Beau ran up to the door in a panic
“D-dad?!” The silence was loud, and only after a few moments did he hear his father for the last time in days.
“Beau. leave.”
Beau would never admit what happen during those days, the constant crying and banging on the door, to let him in, all to be met with silence.
He understood that his adventuring group were on the nicer side of things, always trying to help those who needed it. But this ‘quest’ was one of the worst.
Just the way everything felt like it was slow motion. It sat the wrong way.
He couldn’t help but want to kill everyone in this area, the clerics, the people, even his teammates.
How was it any fair he had to suffer while these people got the help they needed and continued to complain about it. How dare they take something for granted. He should’ve just killed them, it would have made all the noise stop, made it easier to run away from the pain this caused.
But he knew it would only make everything worse. So he choose to disappear for a few days.
Chapter 12He didn’t know how long had passed since the last incident, but the house was unnervingly quiet. It’s days like this that the paranoia would whisper the worse was to come, he had finally reached the breaking point and maybe, he would be put out of his misery. The slight movement in the shadows were enough to send Beau into a staring contest with them, waiting for them to jump out at him, tell him how pointless it was to resist and how he should accept the punishment that was heading his way.
In a way, he knew that it was impossible for things like that to happen, but he was scared the moment he put doubt or let his guard down, it would prove him wrong.
He also couldn’t remember when he last ate, though he does remember how good the simple but salted crackers tasted, ignoring the slightly earthy flavor it had from the street and his stomach wasn’t shy to remind him how hungry we were either, letting out a low gurgle at the memory.
Getting lost in thought, he had long forgotten the staring contest with the wall, and let down his guard, but he didn’t mind anymore, lacking any more energy from his fright earlier.
He doesn’t know how long he stayed like that, leaned against the door to prevent any unwanted entry, ignoring his small stature wouldn’t be able to barricade anyone from the inside, dozing on and off as the sunlight moved from one wall to another.
Until something moved, scurrying across the floor boards from one side of the room to another. It looked small, but it looked real and not some trick of the mind. It had sent Beaus’ mind into a frenzy, and a small amount of adrenaline into his bloodstream.
Slowly, but carefully, he picked himself off the floor and made his way into the corner. Sitting between the old chair and the wall was a spotted brown and white rat, its beady little eyes looking up at the figure that had approached it and recognition might have been on its face, if it even knew how to emote.
The rat, in which Beau had named Crumb, would usually have scurried over to him by now and waited for food he had pocketed from anywhere in the cabinets or from Beaus’ own stockpile, but the look in Beaus' eyes stirred a feeling on uneasiness in the room.
Slowly, like he had done a few times before, he braced his feet and zoned in on Crumb, watching its stomach rise and fall slowly, like trying to blend into the wall. This time was different, there was no lizard, and it wasn’t a playful challenge between them, it was the difference between satiation today and satiation tomorrow.
Taking in a slow, deep breath, the room sat in an uncomfortable silence, waiting for one of the two to move. What seemed like time stretching on forever, the rat gathered enough courage to bolt back towards from where it came, and Beau was swiftly behind it.

The room was filled with panicked squeaking, as Crumb writhed and wriggled among the young boys grasp.
And if Beau was of normal mind, the noise would have startled him out of the fog that had grasped his mind.
But all he could think about was the feeling of a full stomach.
Gradually, he lifted the rat from its tall and let it hang above him, his eyes waiting in anticipation as his stomach let out another gurgle.

A warm copper tasting liquid filled his mouth as he chewed on the small rodent, it’s flavor similar to that of chicken, but much more delicious. It tasted like one of the best things he had ever eaten, and with the snake like mindset, he wanted- no, craved more.
But the shock of what he had done settled in, and he found himself back in his original spot.
Though now, not as hungry as he before, and his thoughts filled with the guilt of craving more.
Would it happen again? or was it just the hunger that caused this reaction from him. Beau would hope never to find out.
