Personal history
Adar, of Ikaan, of the Eternal Tower and the line of the Star Emperor, was born to a minor noble house, the seventh son of a seventh son. His ancestors included heroes of great fame and reviled madmen in equal parts, and the reputation of his family in the wider world was negative or non-existent. Adar received little affection from his parents, who were often away on business or busy managing the family’s small estate. His youth was impacted by tragedy – the death of a favorite sibling, mysterious illnesses among the household staff, and other strange occurrences. Many of the villagers whispered that he was a cursed child. His friends in the village grew distant, his siblings left home to travel the world, and he spent his adolescence in the company of books and stories. When he became a man, he too left home and traveled the western world by land and sea. He worked as a mercenary, a merchant’s guard, and a wizard’s apprentice. Adar’s life was dull and he crafted grander plots to enhance his prestige, win coin and fame, and obtain esoteric knowledge. With a stolen grimoire from his master’s collection and some rudimentary teaching from a blind old wretch met in a tavern, Adar began to master the dark arts of soul binding. He sought to increase his knowledge of the binding arts and dark powers, completely unaware of his innate connection to the entity known as "The Star Emperor".
