Asmund's parentage remains a mystery to himself as he was effectively abandoned or possibly even orphaned as an infant and was raised in a monastery of the Order of St. Alistair.
The monastery was raided by the Inquisition when Asmund was barely in his teens and Asmund was likely the only survivor, having fled the location on foot. Unbeknownst to Asmund, the Inquisition believed that St. Alistair was actually a Fiend who had masqueraded as a Saint and lured many worshipers to him, and this had caused the Order of St. Alistair to become branded as heretical, but it was the only family Asmund had ever known regardless.
Asmund carved out a meager living in Northgate until he joined the Castor's Bay Company as a mercenary.
