Sir Percival Waggles was not born into greatness—but you’d never know it by speaking with him. Hailing from a modest merchant family in the city of Sunport, Percival clawed his way up the social and political ladder through a combination of relentless ambition, shameless self-promotion, and more than a few suspiciously timed scandals befalling his rivals.
A master of pomp and presentation, Waggles surrounds himself with luxury, pageantry, and titles he often awards himself. Known for long-winded speeches about "the burden of brilliance" and "the unmatched excellence of my governance," he believes himself to be the greatest statesman in all of Aurelia—perhaps even in history. He often compares himself to legendary figures, usually ones no one else has heard of.
Waggles took control of the Solaris Republic through back channels, but quickly worked to centralize power, turning the once-diverse council into a toothless formality. Opponents who challenge him are quickly "reassigned," "retired," or tragically fall afoul of well-timed accidents.
Despite his grandstanding, Waggles is not without cunning. Beneath the flamboyant exterior lies a ruthless manipulator who will do whatever it takes to preserve his rule. He makes quiet deals in backrooms, funds shadowy operatives, and leverages information like a blade at his enemies' throats. To him, the idea of someone else ruling Solaris is unthinkable—not because he fears for the people, but because he is utterly convinced that no one else could possibly do it better.
He is currently obsessed with rumors of unrest, insurgency, and “dangerous magical elements”—which, in truth, are growing real threats. But Waggles remains blind to the scope of the danger, believing that his charisma and exquisite taste in waistcoats will carry the Republic through any storm.
Now, with whispers of Lyra Stormcaller and shadow magic leaking into the world, Waggles has become more paranoid. He hunts perceived threats under the guise of patriotism—including the party—believing their meddling might expose the cracks in his golden throne.
