The Haunted One Oren Hunter

Oren’s Backstory Odyssey of the Dragonlords   Centuries before Sirens had a beautiful city. Sydon didn't like that their towers rivaled his. They tore them down. Prompting songs of repentance. Sydon again was not pleased. In time the foundations of the city cracked and pillars collapsed. The city sunk into the ocean, and the memory faded. This prompted some of the Sirens to look elsewhere for guidance and inspiration. This group found Kyrah. She was the goddess of Music and Trickery. It made sense. The goddess seemed to embrace them as well. Two of the things this group was very involved in. Sirens, obviously, love songs and singing. Even if those songs are sad at times. The trickery part comes into play with their decided profession. They had become a well-known group of bandits and smugglers. Always careful to only accept jobs that won't hurt the good people of Myrtos and the surrounding area. The sirens ability to Fly and Charm with their songs have allowed them to get into places most of the Myrtos Thieves Guild could not. They formed a relationship as Mercenaries. Those rogues are cunning however, and at times trick the Sirens into doing horrible things. Some were so horrible in fact that Oren felt something had to be done. He agreed on a job that he knew would go wrong. He knew what would happen and went on the job anyway. The most devious of the Thieves Guild, a Satyr by the name of Kreios, was present to ensure things went according to plan. They were to break in and steal an artifact that had just been sold to a local merchant from an outsider who didn't know any better. The window was small, so they had to move quickly. The problem was the shop owner knew the true value of the item. He took precautions and that night four people died, Three hired hands and the shopkeeper. Kreios stepped out of the shadows and insisted that Oren run. Oren couldn't as he was trapped. He had to hill the others. He had no choice. With sadness in his heart, he looked to Kreios and began to sing, enthralling him. He told Kreis that he was the one that killed everyone. There was no one else. Oren disappeared into the shadows as the City Guards arrived taking Kreios into custody. Years have passed since the incident. While it saddens Oren that he took the lives of potentially innocent people, he is happy that Kreios is in jail. Oren would often inquire about him to see if he has escaped, or been set free. Every time he was given the answer he had wanted to hear, Kreios was still there. Through his leadership, philosophy, and accomplishments he was made leader of the tribe. The elders blessed Oren with the tribe’s artifacts. The items that have helped them stay out of trouble and get out of dangerous situations. As the stone and sword were passed to Oren cheers erupted all around. A celebration ensued. For a while, things were going well for the tribe. Their relationship with the Thieves Guild has improved over the years. They have forgiven, or even forgotten, about the lousy Kreios. The tribe now, more than ever protects the innocents. They still steal, rob and pillage, but only to those deserving. Things for Oren were going well. He had started a family of his own. Oren still helped from time to time with taskings from the Thieves Guild. This mission was to harass a merchant vessel in the Cerulean Gulf. It was a good day and he felt happy. He was flying around the ship shooting arrows into the deck of the ship. Not looking to hurt, just to slow them down. The merchants could not harm Oren as he has swooped down and stolen their bows before the attack. His happiness faded fast when he returned home. All the nests were empty. All his fellow Sirens were gone! Vanished! He immediately began searching the area for any signs. Oren headed into the Myrtos to continue his search. He went to his contacts at the Guild and was given some information about a job to the North, in a town called Estoria. A person going by the same name as his beloved Deity, Kyrah. There is a great reward and something about an Oracle. Filled with hope, he headed to Estoria. Rumor 1: Kreios has escaped from jail and is looking for those responsible for locking him up. Rumor 2: Citizens have seen a Siren fight with a sword that seems to float and fight on its own. (True) Rumor 3: Sydon is trying to make amends with the Sirens
