Ooglamanith was born into a minor noble Giff family aboard a small spelljammer ship sailing the astral sea. His father, a skilled mapmaker, was determined to chart as much of the cosmos as possible.

Ooglamanith (Oog) was born into a minor noble Giff family aboard a small spelljammer ship sailing the astral sea. His father, a skilled mapmaker, was determined to chart as much of the cosmos as possible. From a young age, Ooglamanith learned cartography and navigation from him, as well as the fundamentals of operating a spelljamming vessel.
 
Unfortunately, when Ooglamanith was in his early teens, their ship encountered a Neogi raiding party. The Neogi stripped the vessel of its supplies, and when they turned their attention to the crew, Ooglamanith's father placed his powerfully built frame between them and his family. His sacrifice bought just enough time for Ooglamanith, his mother, his twin brother, his younger sister, and a small contingent of the crew to escape.
 
By the time he reached adulthood, Ooglamanith's hatred of the Neogi had solidified into an unshakable thirst for vengeance. He learned that a distant cousin had joined a mercenary group that was going to be supplying a massive new spelljammer, and through negotiation, he secured a place among the group. Though not officially enlisted, he plan to serve alongside them. As fate would have it though, the Neogi intercepted his transport, and he was taken prisoner before he could report for duty.
 
His yearning for retribution has become almost religious. Through it, he has tapped into a well of divine power. He does not know if any gods guide him, but he is certain of one thing: this power was given to him for a singular purpose—bringing vengeance upon the Neogi.
