It had been a few days since we’d taken the girls to The Neon Pussycat. In that time I’d sent a message to the Detective about the AI job and we’d managed to get hold of Zeek and he’d come back to us and given us some more information on the Grey Markets and the slave market. They weren’t directly related but getting access to one should get us access to the other. In the meantime Ilyara had suggested we do a job for one of her friends, a hacker by the name of Jordan was in debt to Alana DeWitt and was now in hiding. He wanted Ilyara to get some dirt on her so he could use that as leverage to get her to wipe out his C60k debt. He had also been caught hacking into her machines which had put him on her list for a beating. If we could get him off Alana’s hit list then there was some information he had which we would find useful. I also sent Persephone a message to let her know that we were looking into the slavery market issue as she had asked me to start looking into this for her last time we were at Deep Six. Also as the issues were on the border of her area I wanted her to know we were there and poking around. We had a quick conversation about what Jordan was asking us to do. While we wanted to help Jordan out of his predicament, we didn’t particularly want to be making an enemy of Alana. Ilyara suggested we just pay off Alana. That way we could deal with the problem for Jordan while keeping Alana friendly and getting us the data. The chances were it would also be quicker. Ilyara messaged Jordan to check that he would be OK with the plan and when he messaged back with ‘Anything that gets her off my back and me out of this apartment.’ That agreed, Ilyara messaged Alana to ask if she was willing to meet to discuss the Jordan issue. She got a rather non committal message back that she was willing to meet if we thought we had a solution. We all piled into the AV and headed over to the casino. On the way Ilyara updates Max on the mutant vampires that we needed to deal with. Max agreed that we needed to deal with the issue but that we might need to know how to deal with them before we take the job on. Ilyara has also found out that it’s a rogue branch of Lazarus and that HQ wants the issue dealt with discreetly and are willing to pay for it. The creatures are the remnants of Project Revenant. To create vampire-like creatures who can be controlled but without the Amaranthian vampire weaknesses. Basically to me make foot soldiers. They have a heavily modified double helix and the Lazarus cell which stops them ageing and allows them to regenerate quickly. Ilyara wants to try and capture one so she can try and isolate the cell. By the time she had finished catching Max up on the Vampire issue we were at the casino. Eventually we’re taken in to see Alana, there are already three people in the office with her. One black guy with black market cybernetics. Rapture, a woman with either armour or cyber enhancement. Most of her face is hidden. The last is another woman, Mademoiselle. We hear the tail end of the conversation; ‘you may set up on the edge of the territory, just contribute where you’re supposed to and bring your patrons here. She was wearing a pretty dress with icy blue eyes but also carried a big gun. ‘I know you had some problems in your previous district but you’re welcome in my district’. At that comment she looked directly at Ilyara and smiled. Max and Jack know each other. They met before. Business in Manchester is getting hot which is why he’s getting out. He’ll be in the warehouse district. If we need any more information, let him know. He also says it’s a shame the desert dogs are no more, they had a good reputation. Alana gestured for us to sit down. Ilyara introduces us all and she puts out a mechanical hand. She has an assault cybernetic left arm. Her flesh arm was taken by a colleague of Ilyara’s. We put forward the proposal to resolve the Jordan situation. She agrees on the proviso he does not enter the casino again. We agree and she calls off the people after him. Max, as always, offers the help of Broadcastle. As it turns out she does need help locating lost items but they may be in a dangerous area. It’s a heavy cargo crate on a lifter. It got blown off and fell into a sinkhole, inhabited by aggressive, large drakes and giant scorpions, that’s all she knows. The cargo isn’t illicit, no weapons or drugs, but it is important. Valuables, trinkets and oddities. There is a little back and forth RE the payout as Max thinks she’s holding out on us. When I ask for details of the last known location she hands me a datapad. She also confirms that they have lost it’s beacon, but she gives me the frequencies in case we can pick it up when we get closer. It looks like it’s southwest of the city 4.2 miles. The sinkhole is naturally occurring and has not changed for years now so seems to be as stable as it can be but we still need to be careful. We go to see Jordan and give him the good news in person. He’s suspicious and jittery. His flat is full of technology with emitters tracking us. He’s also not happy it’s taken Ilyara so long because he’s been stuck in while he was waiting for her. He calms down pretty quickly though and gives Ilyara the information on the Grey Market. He hands Ilyara a DSD, three blank invitations to the grey markets, all we needed to do was add our details. He also warns us to only take basic weapons and not to start anything. There are automatic guns which are accurate and Mages. He discusses the slavery contracts with Max as he wants to make sure Max knows what he’s getting into. Some of them are indentured servitude, which is voluntary. In the free people territories some people will put themselves into indentured servitude to do tings like pay off a debt because they are looked after and at the end of the process they are free to go. Max is after the ELF, Raider and ALF slaves. These are people who are forced to work to pay off a debt they never will. Some are taken against their will and sold under the pretence of being indentured. We will have to be careful as we can’t free the ones who are paying off a debt. We run the risk of angering Mayor Richardson and his seer council if we interfere too much in the wrong way.

We got another job while we were looking into the Mid East job. Turns out a rogue group had taken over the docs, there was a cargo ship there, worth quite a bit. The company wanted it back, but they also wanted it kept quiet if possible. Didn't want it getting out that they couldn't protect the cargo they were shipping. The group who'd taken it over were the Ascended Skulls. There were 10-12 of them, organised and well armed. They had already taken over all the tech and turrets. I asked if there was a back door to the systems to save me hacking in but no. Either way we were able to get in, take them down and take control of the base again. Job Done :-)

Chases job prep is going well - I think... Ilyara's been chasing up on some leads for a support ship. The job is in Oman so we'd need the support. It was going to be a toss-up between spending more and getting another mercenary group involved or paying less but going outside the guild. She also chased up Bradwell because we'd need the aircraft completely fixed before we could even think about it. We also had to think about how we were going to pick up and transport a shipping container that's on a flatbed truck. Ilyara asked if I was busy. I’d finished working on the bike so I went to find her. She asked me to look into Facility 626. All I could find out was that it was a private facility somewhere down south, oxford way, possibly linked to Umbrella. It was something to do with this black goo she had, the current theory was that it was a by-product of the binding and she wanted to do some more research. We decided to head to the umbrella facility we knew, it would also give me a chance to visit Charlotte as I hadn’t seen her in a while and wanted to check how she was getting on. We messaged Professor Ashford who said he would be happy to accommodate us and so we headed over. A lab had been prepared for us. It was one of the more secure labs. Basically if anything went wrong, the lab could be sealed and whatever was inside could be contained if need be. Umbrella dealt with some weird and wonderful stuff and their security precautions were pretty tight because of this. We found out that the ‘goo’ for want of a better word was • 16% Plant • 27% Human DNA (Double Helix) • 26% Amaranthian DNA (Tripple Helix) • 26% Terrestrial animal • 5% unknown We tried to extrapolate the DNA, it was too corrupt for any exact identification but we were able to find that it was 5 separate DNA strands but these were connected in a spiderweb pattern by the unknown quantity. We were able to identify that there was a western caucasian female, possibly English or French. An African/Nigerian male and a Female Eastern European, possibly Russian. The other two were too distorted., the helix was flattened and so the genes had been distorted. We were also able to identify a signature of background radiation, possibly some kind of mutation but we couldn’t get much more than that. Charlotte popped up in the lab to say hello. She knew we were here and wanted to see what we were working on. We showed her what we had so far. I had to remind myself that, although she projected as a child, she was actually much older and incredibly intelligent. She looked over the data and she let us know that Umbrella had been doing research on something similar. The project was classified so she couldn’t tell us much, but what she could say was that there were Beta 2 waves, possibly the DNA of a class 2 psychic. We did some more poking around based on this new information and were able to determine that there was a 12ft psychic field around the sample but it was weak and passive. She told us they had determined that this kind of substance had some cognitive function and characteristics similar to a human brain. The goo didn’t require sustenance but it does have the ability to grow in mass. Some samples were more intelligent than others. The more intelligent samples also gave out gamma waves. One of the things they were trying to determine was what was driving them but so far that had been elusive. She did give us the Beta wave signature so that we could identify it if we came across anything. She also suggested if we found any beta signatures to search for the Gamma signatures as well. If we found any Umbrella would be interested in the samples, however, this came with a note of caution; • Cryo weaponry was good against it – but it could build up an immunity so wouldn’t work for long. • Gamma samples could be aggressive. • If they get damaged they can replicate the damaged cells. • If disposal was needed – Plasma weapons or high intensity heat. • Don’t put samples together. • The samples can pass between this realm and ‘The Other’ • Never let two samples talk to each other • Smaller sizes were more vulnerable Charlotte also told us that there were some humans who have a mutation that allowed them to jump into ‘The other’ and that there was a rumour that the ERF were attempting to weaponise them as they were great for infiltration. She also gave us the specs to convert Ilyara’s scanner so that we could scan for the beta and gamma signatures. We looked at the Amaranthian DNA; there were three identifiable strands of DNA. Elf, Orc and Dwarf. The Elf was a female while the other two samples were male. Animal DNA was Deer, Bear, Drake and Sand Siren. Plant material was a combination of terrestrial and Amaranthian. I took the opportunity to chat to Charlotte, to make sure she was taking some downtime. She said she was and she had started playing games. She still wasn’t allowed a body, she was shackled to Umbrealla and the idea of her having a body made their security guys exceptionally nervous.

I was outside working on the bike when I got a notification ping in the corner of my vision. A breaking news alert about an explosion in the desert at Commune 1. That was where we did the job recently. Fennick I believe it was. Commune 1 was ERF territory so had to be pretty brave to go in there and blow something up. Either that or you were not planning on coming out alive. Scanning through the article I saw it wasn’t just any explosion, it was a nuke. The fallout was looking likely to hit communes 2-4. 2 was the worst hit with 4 getting off relatively unscathed, but that depended on the prevailing winds. 70% of commune 2 was closed off. There wasn’t much to go on, the ERF had a tendency to police the web and remove anything they didn’t like the look of. I switched over to the dark web, there was more likely to be information there and it was less likely to be propaganda put out by the ERF media machine. There of course was a lot of chatter about the explosion and what it was. I watched the footage again, there was a definite cyan blue hue to it. Some were thinking it was a cold fusion reaction, however, a lot of the dark web chatter seemed to think it was a fusion charge as the primary with the secondary payload being nuclear. I scanned through the other photos, one was a grainy image of an anti-grav with a turret and black and purple chevrons speeding away from Commune 1. It looked familiar, like the one we saw in the canyon with the guys who stole the information on Scarlett. From the chatter it looked like the group had come from the BVZ, or Blackpool Viral Zone. As it was leaving it passed through Neo Manchester and the ruins of Liverpool heading back to the BVZ. I pinged the news report and a link to some of the dark web to the others in case they were interested and then filed the information away for future reference.

Well, since we had some time on our hands, we picked up another job, it was a bit last minute, but it was a rescue mission so I suppose they always are. While we were there though something really disconcerting happened. Some guys came out of nowhere, stealth tech suits, rail rifles, sensor dampers the works. They managed to get to me and hack into my data and steal all of the information I have on Scarlett. I tried to get some images of them from the manticore but the images were all pixellated, they had sensor bafflers. They were emitting a signal, back-hacking it didn't work, I just got spammed with garbage data. The only thing I could pick up on was the signal strength which put the source at 3-4 miles away. Tight band, long range transmission. Military tech. I quickly pinged a message to Scarlett 'GET OUT' I knew they had her address. wasn't sure how quickly they'd be able to get people there and I didn't want to risk her being caught at home. I had to trust that she'd listen to me. Once we knew the hostages were OK we booked it back home, wanting to make sure Scarlett was OK. We got there in time to see police tape being put up around a burned out jeep in front of Scarlett's building. Fortunately it looked like no-one was in it. Once we got back to the base she was already here waiting in the medbay, she looked like she'd been shot and had some glass in her cheek but other than that she was OK. I left her with Ilyara to patch her up and went to review my security. I can't have anyone taking more data about any of us again. It was a close run thing Scarlett getting away.

So, with the payout, rather than just blowing it all, me and Ilyara decided that we'd invest in some real-estate. We managed to find a shop for sale and, long story short, we managed to buy it. So, you know anyone who wants to rent a shop front??

So, we got back to the base and I got the tech guys to come out and fix me up a bit. While they were on the way I got them to bring some eye upgrades. We got a decent payout from the job and it would be really useful to be able to see a bit more than I can with the ones I've got. We also caught up with Chase about the job. He'd seen us leaving the base in the new aircraft and thought he'd put a bit of work our way. If we can pull this off it would be fairly epic but it's going to take some doing and a lot of prep-work so we'll see if we can pull it off. One of the other downsides to a big job like this is, it also comes with way more risk than we're used to.

It's been a while since Broadcastle got an official job but we got one yesterday. A security job. We had a request to go and deal with a member of the White Skulls 'Fennick". Victor wanted him 'Re-located' We were told he was in Building three in Commune . Briefing suggested we try to take him outside the building as inside could be difficult and result in a large firefight. This guy used to be a spy, still has connections and is into buying and selling information. We decided to head over and scout the area and see if we could gather any new information. We eventualy managed to get the information we needed on his movements by talking to the desk clerk. We found out that he had to what we assumed to be bodyguards with him. From what we would tell they were from the UAEC military core. We came up with a plan to wait until he went for one of his weekly trips to the market and hit him then, make it look like a gang hit. The boss Max was able to get him and we managed to do the job under the radar and get out. Good job really as this is ERF territory so don't want to get stuck here. Anyway. Job done. Fennick dealt with. Payday. Happy days

When we got back Constantine also had a look through his library, looking for some information on some Astronomical changes. He went all the way back to the binding. There have been some changes but the most significant seemed to be The Oracle and the Earthbound Dragon. This involved a rainbow halo of energy with the pinnacle over London. When the oracle is at it's pinnacle a Dragon emerges. When this happens the ERF send ships up with prisoners onboard with the intention of bringing the Dragon down. Significant as this only happened in the last 50 years when the binding happened over 200 years ago. Not sure what happened to trigger this event, however, it now happens every year in September.

We arrived at Victor Outpost. We wanted to go under the radar so we decided to scale the walls. The other option was to go through the sewers but we vetoed that quite quickly, it was a trip none of us wanted. The walls would also give us a better vantage point. From here we could see some injured people making their way across the base. There was a large metallic creature holding a triple barrelled gun overseeing chained people moving rubble. Opposite the metallic creature was a female creature sending small balls of fire at the feet of anyone she clearly didn’t think was moving fast enough. In the sand around them were sigils and circles, but it wasn’t just in the sand, they were all over the place they were also on the walls and even on some of the people. I took some pictures so that I could have a look at them later on and see if I could determine what they meant. As I was taking the pictures I realised that there were only 7 people with the images on them. They were also dressed slightly differently. I wasn’t sure but at a guess I’d say that these people were part of some kind of ritual. We had Black Hawk on standby with Mech support but decided the best thing to do was to leave this well enough alone and come back when we had the rest of the team.

OK so Constantine has a really unusual way of transporting us about. He has a 'house' I use that word loosely as it does appear to be a house when you go into it but the door seems to appear wherever he wants whenever he wants. There is a spirit of the house - a woman with purple skin and ethereal, fabric like, things floating from her. He warns us that the house rules are - no fighting - or you will be forcefully ejected. That one was fairly easy to remember. Also he can now summon us against our will and that we may be honour-bound to assist him in the future. Not so sure about being able to summon us at will but I don't think there's much we can do about that now. Either way he's just said we're at Victor Outpost and we're off to see what we can see.

Larinda wanted to talk to Constantine so we called him over. He didn't seem to be one to shy away from a bottle or three. They talk for a while and then Constantine tells her he thinks the problem is "Devils on the moon" Ilyara wants to go and check out Victor Outpost and see whats going on so we call it a night and Constantine gets us home.

I just had a rather interesting conversation with Larinda. Apparently there are rumours of something falling from the moon & landing on the island, potentially somewhere around Victor Outpost. Some settlements have gone quiet. The timing links in with the jobs we did. She also gave me the name of a Shaman she suggested we go and talk to about magic in the city... might be worth a visit.

So we got paid for that weird paranormal job and, unsurprisingly, Ilyara wanted to go shopping. She took me to some really obscure shop dealing with the occult and old weaponry, some of it pre-binding by the looks of it. As we walked in I started getting static on my displays. I really should write some kind of programme to filter out magical static. I'll add it to my to do list. This place was unlike anything I'm used to. Normally shops are fairly bright, clean and well-lit. This was dark and dusty and, to me, not that well organised. There were all sorts of things dotted all over the place. Gems, talismans, dreamcatchers, rings, bracelets, weapons. Not the sorts of things I would expect to be sold in the same shop together. I spent my time noseying around and seeing what they had. Most would probably need to be used by a biological body rather than a robot. I did find a pretty ring that the guy said would work for me a 'Ring of vitaic barrier' that would help to shield me from ranged weaponry. Well, I'll never say no to an advantage in a firefight. Ilyara was looking at staves when the bell chimed indicating someone else had entered the shop. It was a male, I want to say human, with an accent I'd never heard before. He came straight up to the counter and was asking about a specific amulet - the amulet of the globetrotter. There wasn't one here and he seemed really disappointed and somewhat flustered. I followed him out of the shop, he had paused outside to light a cigarette. He introduced himself as Constantine and I did a quick search for him online. Madame Irranescues was showing as having one in. We gave him a lift. He's a really unusual bloke as, he picked up on Ilyara being a vampire pretty much straight away - he could tell she wasn't breathing. He was also asking about this 'timeline' and that it was the early 2000's when he left and he was in a castle and doing experiments. He thanks us for helping him out and gives Ilyara some post it notes 'If you ever need me, write on that and burn it, I'll get the message' We get to the bookshop and tell him where Madame Irranescues is but after a second thought, we take him, don't want him getting lost, and that's a whole other story...

You have to love Scarlett. She just sent us a picture of her with a severed lizards head. Looks like she'd been having fun. She also sent me the contact details for a supplier for my nano blades so guess where we've just been. I may or may not be somewhat excited about new weaponry.

New weapon day today :-) I'd been talking to Ilyara about some new weapons and she suggested we pay a visit to Scarlett. I'd heard the name mentioned a few times before so I figured it would be a good idea to meet her anyway. Turns out she's lovely, she's ridiculously hot and insane with bladed weapons. Basically she's my spirit animal. After spending some time talking about what I wanted and trying a few different things out, we decided nano-blades would be the best thing for me, I can adapt them to the situation I'm in and carry them in gauntlets on my wrist so they're also hidden. Ticks all the boxes for me! Scarlett let me try hers out and after a few false starts, it was pretty cool, she had me slicing an apple in half as she threw it. As much as I love the unlimited potential of my AI digital form, I also love the potential of moving around in a physical body and getting to do cool stuff like that. She didn't have any but is putting me in touch with the right person to get some for myself and she let me have a few throwing knives and a bandolier. The visit was cut short a little because Ilyara got a message about a job but still, loads of fun and looking forward to hanging out with Scarlett again, see what other tips and tricks I can pick up from her.

Ahhhhh, bollocks. I got tagged. It must have happened in the scrapyard. Unfortunately I don't have any experience in dealing with this so I need help. Ilyara pinged a message over to Fisk, he was able to de-tag me thank god. While he was there and poking around in my programming we got talking about who and what I was. It's hard not to have a conversation with someone whose poking around in what is essentially your brain. He thinks it's possible I was one of the first cybermancers. I could do a deep dive to look for the information or we could go to one of the black sites - but that's pre-binding security. it could still be there but it would be secured. I messaged Rui to see if she knew anything about my origins, it's not something I'd thought of much before but it would make sense for her to know if anyone knew anything about my origins. I was found in the Tokyo subnexus - X found some old degraded source-code - and when she says old it was 247 years old. Code was standard binary mixed with multilingual source-code. Rui pinged me all of the data she had on me but to do any more digging I'd need to come and visit her in Neo Tokyo to get onto their subnexus. She'll get X to have a look into it in the meantime. I have to admit, I like the idea of a visit to Neo Tokyo, see if I can find out more about who I am and where I came from. Not that easy though so we'll have to get the paperwork started. At least I have some leads and we'll see what happens.

So we went to the scrapyard today and I met the Reclaimers and the Raiders, that was a fun afternoon. We got on pretty well with the Reclaimers and they even gave me their comms frequencies so I can talk to them if I need to. It was all going well until the Raiders attacked and Ilyara lost a leg. That's when it stopped being fun. Fortunately for me the Reclaimers helped me get her back to the AV and we managed to get her back to the apartment. I thought Sarah might kill me when she saw the state of Ilyara but we managed to get her stable and she's sleeping it off now. Scarlett just arrived so whatever mood she was in, she'll likely be in a better one in an hour or so.

Went to Ilyara's meeting with Rinoa. She wants to offer services and assistance to the hospital. She's got access to what sounds like some pretty swish nanite injectors, stimulants, performance enhancers. She suggests we come on a tour of the facility. She also suggests Ilyara speaks to Edgar Kaiser. Need to do some digging on this person!

Had fun today sorting out the security on Ilyara's systems. Bookshop, Apartment, AV, all now connected and secure. Well, as secure as I can make them Also got some drones which should come in handy for missions. Met Rinoa Isuzu as well, she was talking to Ilyara about a job. She seems really nice, if a little serious but ridiculously intelligent.

Got to go on a ridealong on the Medivac with Ilyara today. That was kinda cool. Went back to the base where we had my first mission. Got to jump in and screw with the comms again and take over some turrets and shoot the enemy with their own guns. It's actually quite fun to witness the confusion on their faces. Unfortunately someone was able to back-hack me and put a tag on me but Rui and X were able to sort that out - Rui was also able to give me some co-ordinates for whoever it was put the back hack on me. Up north somewhere near the mountains, an old military base.

So after the Tarot coming up in our 'Dream' we decided to go to Madame Irranescues and have our tarot read. Just because we could and we're bored with no jobs on at the moment. Mine; The Star; blue energy coming from her fingertips = the nexus, the digital realm. Old / new ideas mingling. Something important coming - affects the digital world - it affects me and I affect it. The Moon - Literal?? = important place - research - affects push and pull - the network? two towers - two ideals / ideologies - pick one or take the middle path The magician - skilled in their field - useful - empower and assist with your choice. The Hermit - isolation but also important knowledge - me and my past? someone who knew me long ago and is isolated. Keep my eyes peeled if I want to talk to them.

Read a cool book on Tarot at Ilyara's shop today. Apparently it all started when people used bones for divination. Particular ideas then solidified and were put onto cards which made it a bit more accurate. The Amaranthians relate the Tarot to the gods. Their belief is that the gods use the tarot to give messages to people

Note to self - Ilyara's asked me to look into Project Hades - something to poke around into when I have some downtime

Went back to Ilyara's bookshop today and bumped into Rui. I didn't realise she was in the UK so it was a nice surprise. Nice to be able to see her and let her know how I'm getting on. She also had a present for me - a DSD with a version 2.5 nuke virus.

Well, I didn't think AI's dreamt but I definitely did something like that last night, turns out Ilyara had the same dream too. I'm not going into details - needless to say it was messed up and weird beyond belief. However, there was a message in it - Something to do with finding someone in Neo Manchester. The Hilton Tower and Governor Boswell. I know the Hilton Tower is the focal point for The Lost. Might have to do some more digging into this. There was also a tarot deck and the cards; The Lovers Temperance Wheel of Fortune Judgement The Sun The Priestess The Hermit Justice. I'm sure their meaning will become apparent at some point in the future but for now it's a mystery...
