The war... Continued! Report

General Summary

The Cursed Crusaders were able to pull ahead (and got some sweet loot). After tending to their wounds they spotted a familiar face... well faces. They ran into both Phillip Delance and Mittlefink Puddleblast. Mittlefink had stuck away from the town of Greenhorn and had decided she was going to have her own adventure. Seeing that the party was well equipped and battle-hardened she decided to stick along. The prince Phillip was having a terrible day however and was rather short tempered with the party. After losing somewhere around 5000 men in the initial attack he is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Being outnumbered roughly 30-1 he had devised several plans that if executed correctly could just change the tide of the war. He asked why the party was here. They made it clear they were following the flow of coin (-1 respect with the prince). The prince having just experienced the party do the right thing for no coin (preventing a war between magecrest and the goblin kingdom) was a little disappointed and it was clear on his face. "coin can influence many men."   With the whole orc army funneling this direction he is pulling the land warships from the east to cover and push into the enemy flank. (as the east is currently the only flank holding)   Before the land warships can effectively engage the orcs they will need to destroy their siege weapons that loom ominously in the background. The party has no idea who will be in charge of doing this.    In addition a group of mages from magecrest have a plan to even the odds. They have their own long range magic that they can use to harass large groups of enemies. They will need someone to deliver homing stones to large clusters of enemy camps. The party has no idea who will be in charge of doing this.    Lastly the main concern. The group of scouts that was suppose to advise the prince of any enemy troop movements have gone dark. It is believed that they are likely captured or killed. However, the prince needs someone being eyes in the sky (or at least on a mountain) and feed him valuable intel about additional numbers, troop movements, or anything else they deem relevant. The prince made it clear that it is extremely high priority to get intel before engaging in any fights. The previous scouts were the kings scouts and should not have been seen let alone captured/killed. At this point there was an exchange of words back and fourth between the prince and a certain hag raven. Tempers were high but that doesn't mean the prince will forget the encounter. (-2 party relations with mage crest as the party was openly hostile to the prince in front of his advisors).   The prince sent the party on their way and provided them additional provisions (a crate of 30 lesser health potions). Before the party left Sam noticed that there was more weighing down the prince. He offered a blessing and the prince gladly took it (+1 party relations with magecrest). The party rode hard for a full day and was able to make it to the other side of the war. It is currently sunset and it appears that a unspoken ceasefire is in order. The army of Magecrest clearly down from a hard days fight awaits another day.   Will the party be successful? Will Prince Phillip turn the tide of this war? What awaits them on the mountain?    Find out in 2 weeks :)   P.S. Thank you for an awesome session everyone! I know it was a slog getting through the battle but it was worth that sweet sweet xp! If you have time this week (outside of your normal d&d session summary) I highly recommend you go over your "top 3 moves". Take time to min max your character and really get a good idea of what your top 3 attacks will be in battle. That way if you don't know what to do in a combat situation you can default to one of the 3 choices! If you need help with this let me know. Have a great week!
