General Summary

Ashes of Intelligence
Report 1
Related Dates: Days 103 through 104 of 4,543,626,881
Origin: KC33345L
Destination: IV22357Z
  Report begins...
This is the first report on the activities of Subjects 4777, 4778, 4779, 4780, and 4781, along with their relationship to, and interactions with Subject 1. Data for this and all other reports on these subjects have been gathered through mostly secondary and tertiary sources, with only occasional data from the primary sources themselves. As such, data may be subject to the degradation effects of copying from one source to the next. For full reliability percentages, see the attached charts.   For basic background information on Subjects 4777, 4778, 4779, 4780, and 4781, see preliminary Report 0, previously submitted.   This report is divided into three significant events, reported individually below. However, full details on Event 3 are not yet available. Missing details will be appended to Report 2.

Event 1

Day 103 of 4,543,626,881 (13 Apr of 98 AF in local notation)
According to reports gathered from residents of the Coop (nomadic community detailed in Taebur reports 542 through 550) and others, the community was camped southwest of Ardan when one of its vehicles exploded. Although there were injuries, it would appear that no one died in this event. However, it did disrupt the Coop's normal routines, as the residents scrambled to save belongings and put out fires. It is reasonable to assume that the subjects of this report were involved in these initial efforts, especially considering their later efforts over night and the next morning and evening.   There are some reports of in-fighting amongst Coop members once the fires were extinguished. Coop member designated Naja Serene (not currently a designated study subject) accused another Coop member of causing the explosion. It would appear Subject 4777 (designated "Dante" and referred to as such henceforth in this report) may have instrumental in diffusing the tensions in this situation.   Further reports indicate Subject 4780 (designated "Ackers" and referred to as such henceforth in this report) spent much of the night putting out the fire consuming the original vehicle (which was carrying excess fuel in addition to its own supply) and keeping watch on it once the fire was out.
Day 104 of 4,543,626,881 (14 Apr of 98 AF in local notation)
The following morning, the Coop began an investigation into what happened. Ackers and Coop member designated Dwin Mahad searched the remains of the destroyed vehicle and found remains of explosives that Dwin identified as dynamite that had been detonated via a remote detonator.   Subjects 4778 (designated "James" and referred to as such henceforth in this report), 4779 (designated "Rolanda" and referred to as such henceforh in this report), and 4781 (designated "R.A.N.C.H.E.R." and referred to as such henceforth in this report) joined Coop members designated Selma Methul and Ritar Ayim in a search of the desert surrounding the camp (however, James reportedly only participated in part of this search as he was also tending to those injured the night before). The group turned up evidence that someone had been hidden amongst some rocks. The unknown individual had head south into the desert, but had then circled around to head east-north-east towards Ardan. The group did not follow the trail for the full distance.   The Coop then continued with its planned journey to Ardan, with the added task to find a source of fuel to replace that lost in the explosion.

Event 2

Day 104 of 4,543,626,881 (14 Apr of 98 AF in local notation)
In the evening of this day, several Coop members, including all five subjects of this report, retired to the Apocalypse Bar for relaxation, food, and entertainment. This bar is the location run by Subject 4 (designated "Dagger" and referred to as such henceforth in this report; see also series of reports 0 through 526 on this subject). They had only minimal interaction with Dagger initially, though the Coop leaders were hoping that Dagger could provide them with information to help them find a source of fuel. Dagger and two of the Coop leaders went into a back room to talk. No available witnesses overheard their conversation.   In the main room, the other present Coop members were delivered a message addressed to the Coop. Upon reading it, they learned that someone had placed a bomb in the bar, one that would explode in just a few minutes time. They were given strict instructions not to inform that patrons or the bomb would be exploded early. Nonetheless, they intially caused some worry amongst the patrons as they began searching under the stage and Ackers even attempted to prevent Dagger (now finished with her conversation with the Coop leaders) from performing.   Dagger went on with her performance, however, and the Coop members (led by the subjects of this report) hurriedly searched the bar. James discovered the bomb strapped under a chair in a private meeting room, and Dwin Mahad defused it. The Coop's leader, Subject 4112, designated "Fazul" (see Taebur report 550 for information on this subject) then read the note for the first time and recognized its sender.   The sender is designated Barton Geffmon, the leader of a small gang in Ardan called the Harvesters (note that, although Ardan is covered in Taebur reports 230 to 269, there is no mention of the Harvesters, as they were considered too small to be of any relevance). Fazul sold Barton's brother a "Type B" share (see Taebur reports 542 through 550) two years ago, and Barton has been harassing the Coop leader ever since in an attempt to realize the value of thie share (in truth, an item that is essentially worthless). Barton has grown more and more incensed over the past two years.   Dagger was also familiar with Barton and his gang, and provided directions to their headquarters.

Event 3

Day 104 of 4,543,626,881 (14 Apr of 98 AF in local notation)
Full details of this event are not yet available. However, it is known that all five subjects of this report proceeded to the headquarters of the Harvesters. As best as can be determined from available reports, this is the first time all five subjects have operated as a group without other members of the Coop present (the other members present at the bar returned to the Coop camp to ensure there were no further attempts to bomb them there). This could be the first indication that they are becoming the cohesive group, and thus, threat that prompted these reports in the first place.   Although the outcome of their mission remains uncertain, it is known that they engaged some members of the Harvesters outside the Harvester headquarters. During the short fight, the Harvesters withdrew inside.   More complete details of the subjects' actions should be available soon, and this event will be updated in Report 2.

Final Notes

  • There is no indication at this time that the subjects have had any interactions with Subject 1. There is also nothing to indicate that the Harvesters have any connection to Subject 1 either. However, given that this series of reports would not have been requested if some sort of meeting or interaction with Subject 1 was not inevitable, the most likely source of interaction would be Dagger. As Dagger has had multiple interactions with Subject 1, it would seem likely that she would facilitate any initial interactions between Subject 1 and the subjects of this report. I will therefore double frequency of reports on Subject 4 (Dagger).
  • The subjects have shown a certain degree of resourcefulness, certainly beyond that shown by most other Coop members. Determining an accurate threat measurement is still not possible (the outcome of their confrontation with the Harvesters will certainly affect it). However, an initial estimate of their threat level is LOW. Given that any threat level greater than NONE is considered a concern, I will enact Security Level 1 to ensure the safety of these and other reports.

End report.
Report 2 to follow.
