Session 6: The Trials Toll

General Summary

Vines, fire, death. 5 of you entered and 3 exited. Fim and Stegon perished in the trials and Tarzin spirit broke. You didn't even make it through the trials, only surviving because of a lucky firebolt and Rusty able to regain consiouness. While his surviving friends were unconscious, he drug them to safety and took time to bury his fallen allies. Taking nothing from their corpses, except for Fim's travel journal, which he kept on him for reasons unknown.   When everyone woke it was decided to leave the temple, regroup, and find additional help. Except for Tarzin, who decided to go back to Port Sailhome where it was safer. However it was a shock to them all when they found the drow Liizra and the human Arv Tingby breaking camp right in front of the hidden entrance to the temple. The pair seemed to be interested greatly interested in the old ruins and desired to enter the place, but Rusty wasn't excatly thrilled about new people, so he put them to the test. Having them lead them to the safety of Woodhovel while keeping an eye on them.   Along the way they stopped at the Historical Society Guild camp in the words, Rusty leaving Fim's journal behind with his friend Joseph in case "they come back". Concerned but willing to help, Joseph agreed. Wishing his friend safety as they left.   Determined to return back to the temple and confident they new pair were trustworthy enough, they headed back. Much to their chagrin the trials had seemingly reset, forcing them to start all over again. With belts tightened and weapons readied the dove forward. Monstrous plant creatures and giant stone warriors, gauntlets of fighting statues and a tangle of a trapped maze. Bleeding, fighting, sweating, thinking, they all managed to finish the trials.....only to be told by the garuda statues they had failed 3 of the trials and had to go again. The 2nd time through wasn't as hard as they came to understand their failures. Humility, Honor, Wisdom, Perception, Focus, at all revolved around the core tenets of traditional Garuda life. However Rusty found himself with more the think on after having to face the trial of Self-Reflection alone.   Finishing the Path of the 7 Centers, the statues allowed them to approach the door and open it. Allowing the party to go deeper into the Loomaana Temple.
