13. King of Fire Report

General Summary

13th of Eyre, 998 YK

• Warden cast Speak with Animals and started yelling at the neighborhood birds (Herons).
• The herons refused to speak to him, but a sea gull did steal his ration.
• Whilst debating this course of action, the party was approached by a kalashtar named Nevchaned. He expressed concern at Warden yelling at birds, and asked if they needed help.
• Nevchaned pointed them to the Gathering Light and the Shrine of Il-Yannah. Terfel Glas was looking for a smith that works with crystal, and luckily for him, Nevchaned is such a smith.
• Terfel and Llyr Glas went with Nevchaned to get weapons made, and the rest of them went to the Gathering Light.
• Nevchaned attempted to work with the dragonshard maul, but he broke it. He offered to make a crysteel weapon at a discount.
• Terfel asked for a crysteel mace for Kalshana . When holding it, it resonated with him. Nevchaned recommended he get another weapon, and Terfel commissioned a crysteel halberd.
• Kalshana , Warden and Dax' Athla went to the Gathering Light and participated in the martial arts session being led by Selkatari.
• They then participated in a guided meditation led by Hanamelk.
• After the weapons were finished, Nevchaned led Terfel and Llyr back to the Gathering Light, in time for the community to sit down for their evening meal.
• The food was exceptional for the price (6 cp). It was mostly cold food and soups, all vegetarian. Kalashtar have a very well developed sense of taste, so their food is subtle.
• Terfel couldn't see Lakashtai or anyone matching her description in the Gathering Light, and when he asked about her, nobody knew her.
• After the meal, Kalshana, Dax and Terfel went up to the Shrine of Il-Yannah to speak with the Enlightened Havakhad. Warden went to go speak with seagulls.
• Those who went to the shrine received spiritual advice from the Enlightened, who attempted to help them work through their issues.
• Havakhad indicated that it would seem that Terfel's echo is psionic in nature, but unfamiliar to him. This might mean it originates from Xoriat, rather than Dal Quor.
• Warden spoke with some sea gulls. It seems the herons had been there for some time.
• The party met back up, and decided to do something about the herons. Dax climbed her ladder and captured one. It didn't struggle or even attempt to flee.
• They attempted to communicate with the heron, but it was not receptive. Eventually they decided to cut it open and see if it was really a bird, but they didn't want to do it in Fan Adar, so they took it out of the district.
• When they left Overlook, the heron started to struggle. Dax killed it, and then dissected it. It seems it's an ordinary heron, though it secretes an oily substance onto it's feathers. Dax theorized this is to protect them in water.
• They arrived in Hareth's Folly, and made their way to the King of Fire.
• Entering the casino, they immediately make eye contact with Lakashtai.
