52. Crime Flies Report

General Summary

5th Therendor, 999 YK

  • The party arrives in Passage! It's like a picturesque holiday town, on the shore of Lake Galifar.
  • It also has a Lightning Monorail!
  • The party also notice on the way in that there is a Griffon Ranch outside of the city, and an unusually high guard presence there.
  • Lozaal expresses discomfort about the sky, and things flying. This leads to a lengthy discussion.
  • Warden approaches a guard and asks what's going on. It seems that a griffon has killed some nobles horse, and the noble is requesting restitution. The army is out, a rogue griffon is no laughing matter, and they have orders to shoot any griffons trying to escape.
  • Warden also asks the guard about his squad mates, and is pointed to the House Sivis enclave.
  • Kalshana and Lozaal go into the ranch and meet with Starling d'Vadalis. She explains that one of her griffons, Sunfeather, killed and ate the ir'Nolin family's prize warhorse Antaeranor, who they believe has Valenar steed ancestry.
  • Starling asks them to smuggle Sunfeather out of Aundair, which they need to clear with the rest of the party. There are also other options! They could try and convince the noble family to drop the charges, or Lozaal is aware that the Galifar Code of Law doesn't allow for death to be requested as part of restitution.
  • Dax' Athla and Warden go to the House Sivis enclave via the Lightning Monorail! They find out about his squad mates. They speak to Fibblestib d'Sivis (Fibs to his friends, which Warden is not), who won't tell them the location of the squad mates, but can tell Warden if they are alive or dead.
  • On the way to the Sivis enclave, Warden and Dax spotted a Familiar Café! They stop at Familiar Faces and Warden writes a letter to each of his surviving squad mates.
  • They discuss what to do about Sunfeather. Smuggling the griffon is ideally a last resort, especially with the knowledge that the law is on their side in this.
  • Lozaal and Kalshana go to the court house and speak to the receptionist Cécia, who informs them that a magistrate has not yet been assigned to the case. If they want to make a case, they'll need to wait.
  • Dax and Warden scout the roads outside of Passage and learn that there are checkpoints set up, they will likely run into resistance if they attempt to smuggle the griffon out via the road.
  • They meet back up and decide that they're next port of call is to try and speak to the ir'Nolin family and hear their side of the story. They have theories and suspicions that there is more to this situation than it seems.
